Farming with horses: making hay in the traditional way in Brittany"
At the Orme organic farm in Dolo in Brittany, we draw inspiration from the past and this year Fabien and Juliette took on the challenge of making the 2023 hay entirely using animal traction. Well, it's done, you will discover the work of mowing, tedding, windrowing and baling and all that in the company of their two draft horses, Nabab 22 years old, Fabien's faithful companion for a very long time and Fortune 8 years old.
We followed the life on the farm of Fabien and Juliette at hay time, doing agricultural work without a tractor, but completely with animal traction as in the past, a challenge that Fabien set himself.
Throughout the video you would see that he succeeded in his cutting bet, faded Andenne and booted everything by animal traction. Use the horse to replace the tractor, it's Fabien and Juliette's "workhorse"
As Fabien explained to us, it's not easy, we find more material or that needs to be adapted, it's not easy, but through perseverance and research, he gets there. Of course, helped as always by Juliette, his partner, he forms the perfect duo.
In the video the agricultural equipment, formerly the MASSEY HARRIS mower pulled in duo by Nabab and Fortune, then Juliette's tedder a DOLLE the Fabien MCCORMICK tedder
the MCCORMICK rake and the GARNIER baler
