I love the close up details and explanations you give us of the mixer and its inside. And the details of how much feed you mix daily and the cows individual consumption. Then your fantastic aerial footage. This might be one of the most interesting videos you've done yet Andy.

I am amazed at how much labor and equipment it takes for you to raise your heard. Crop farmers like Mn millennial farmer or the Welkers probably don’t have to put in half as much work as your family does and they don’t need nearly as much machinery. You have my respect for doing what you do to feed the world in this depressed economic times for agriculture.

Thanks for the comment, it's a different environment for sure.

lol and just think. The cows have all that equipment built right into them and then we decide to put them in a barn and not utilize any of it for the intended purposes. 😂. They grind and harvest their food , they spread their manure and help germinate native plants and we think we can do it better than them.

Coming from a farming / dairy family I understand the amount of work that goes into keeping the cows happy. Last of the dairy farm in either side was 52 cows on 300 acres. Also did beef, small swine operation and grain on some rented land. Putting up hay in summer I will never forget up in the barn kicked my ass. Enjoy watching your channel and a small glimpse to running a dairy of that scale.

I am a new subscriber and have many questions, so I'll just throw a few to you. What part of New York state are you located in? What is the size of your dairy herd? I am very impressed on how well your cows look in appearance. You stated your mixers are 900 and 1200, is that the capacity rating, i.e. bushels or what? How do you measure the amount of supplements (minerals) you are mixing with the hay? To say the least, I am very impressed with your dairy farm operation! I have only viewed a half dozen or so of your videos and found them interesting, entertaining and informative. I have not lived on a farm for over fifty years but still find this way of life to make a living and raise a family no matter what the size of the operation is to be rewarding. Thanks!
@FarmingFixingFabricating5 жыл бұрын
Dan Kinnard the model numbers don’t mean anything,there is a scale on each mixer.We are in central New York we milk just over 1600 cows and farm 4K acres.

Kinda makes a person zone out watching the feed mix. 👀 I liked all of the different views today. The milk cows sure come to get the feed and the dry cows don't move except 1, cows can be strange critters at times. It was interesting to see the farm flyovers. How many tankers do you send out in day, and can you hold a days worth of milk in the silo? Thank you for taking the time to record and edit todays video.
@FarmingFixingFabricating5 жыл бұрын
4 tankers, we can't hold a whole day

Hey Andy, I know this is a stupid question, but we sold our dairy cows back in 2008, we milked about 200 cows, do any of your head of cattle go to pasture or are they straight barn cattle?. It was insane trying to round up what we had every afternoon to milk, I can't imagine on your scale.

I tried a couple vertical mixers and really didnt like how they mixed seemed to have a better quality of mix and a faster unload time with a reel mixer.
