How you going, Roger hear from South West of Western Australia, fantastic channel and a very well run operation, when you so you inoculate your bales, what product do you use and how is it applied, kind regards Roger. 👍

The problem with horse hay isn't the horses. It's the horse people who make it difficult. Good luck with your biz! If farming was easy, every one would do it.👍

Can you share with us what products you are using for weighing and stroke counting on the 1840's? We are looking to do the same thing in our operation and would appreciate any thoughts on how you cam to choose what you did. Thanks.

I was wondering why you don’t use liquid preservatives? And does the silo king preservatives fall through the hay to the bottom of your stuffer chamber

Lol, great point. I imagine everyone tried to manage fewer acres, so there was less of a need to push the moisture at times.

I know you feeling about those bundles. Our Bale Bandit with those metal straps makes a really tight bundle. No air flow in center. We run preservative it fixes most of our problems but it can't fix all of them.

Usually we have to monitor dryness over high moisture......The Sun Gets Hot In the south...... With our variety of grass hay we never have used any type of preservative.... Tifton Bermuda has extremely fine stems and long slender leaves, 65 years ago we could cut before dawn and bale that afternoon at less than 15% moisture......

Picky horse owners, bet they'll be fighting over that "bad" hay during the next drought... Last fall I bought some "stuck together, dusty" grass hay for our dairy cow, she loves it. Sample came back 101 RFV and everything else tested over median for mixed grass.

So much money tied up in equipment... The scale of things nowadays is crazy. I grow enough hay to feed my horses and a few bales to sell, peanuts really, all my hay equipment put together wouldn't add up to ten thousand dollars canadian. Deering horse mower, 477 haybine, horse dump rake, JD side delivery rake, MF 12 square baler, Hesston 540 round baler, home made ground drive small bale loader and 3 flat racks, buckrake for the loader, and an elevator. All old and built or rebuilt and fixed by me.

I am going with 11 and 8. Of course I don't know what state auraria you are in but in my area here in Indiana I can get the best alfalfa and orchard grass hay around $8.50 a bale. The alfalfa mixed with grass goes for around 7 and it is also very good quality. We are not feeding horses we are feeding spoiled goats. I find it cheaper to buy the best hay because they do not pick through it and waste 80% of the bail like they do a mixed Bale.

Holy sheep shit Dude, it's been a month, missed you lads! Having baled hay and straw for 2 and a half decades now it never surprises me how color can cost so much, as far as feed value goes the product has the same value in nutrition. I've always tried to stay clear of horsey hmm hmmm hmm, ppl. I keep the hesston 4900 on the 8400 and pack em up. Thanks for your time mate. More please. A month bro!
