CATTLE PRICES IN FRANCE !!!!

In today's episode of farming life at la forge, Mam and Dad are weighing some of our autumn weanlings in order to pick which ones to sell. Dad will go over the current cattle prices, and show you the bulls back in June when we seperated them from the cows. We'll show you around the different lots of weanlings we currently have, and some of our fattened cows that head off in the lorry.

Excellent video, thank you. As a rough comparison, weanlings like those (c. 400kg) would fetch roughly £1,000/€1,100 in the live ring in Carmarthen, so you're getting an exceptional premium on exceptional cattle. Well done.

I've been keeping Limousin suckler cows for 30 years and the only profit on them has been via the various subsidy schemes. With bTB in this area (Pembrokeshire) and the cost of replacement machinery we're moving to sheep only, and looking around this traditionally beef area I am not the only one thinking this - fields that have always carried growing cattle now contain sheep. Cattle prices will rise, I am sure, but perhaps not fast enough in the UK to forestall a decline in numbers; in Carmarthen in the lasy 2 asles there have been 4 dispersals. @@thomasphelan2390
