Beastyqt Faces The MOST Unused Landmark?!?

In today's aoe4 casted game we see the aoe4 order of the dragon played by beastyqt versus the aoe4 japanese played by corvinus. It was a great game on the age of empires 4 map holy island and featured arguably one of the most unused landmarks in age of empires 4.

Here are some random points around the buddhist monks build (I've played it a lot in the recent months). basically the monks generate gold to offset the gold income loss you get from keeping the relics on the map with the monks. When you cast the conversion the units in the circle gets a buff. The buff is instant from beginning so you dont need to complete it. The basic tactic is to convert aggressivly along the frontlines. The monks debuff enemies, heal your units, convert the enemies and buff your units with the conversion. As the nehan upgrade reduced the cooldown you can continously cast the conversion. Japanese units all have speed bonuses (like horse cavalry and also infantry like Ona-bugeisha) so with the nehan speed bonus you multiply those. This is setup like this to charge-attack-retreat-charge-attack-retreat kind of gameplay. - 25% wololo damage bonus is available already in castle age. So he could have cast it on his shinobis. - When you cast the conversion the enemy can see the contents of the ring. - 40 monks means 1000g per minute. - You can use the charge bonus to do a hit and run rhythm where you keep the monks a bit further away. - The buff also applies to allied players so in 4v4 you can buff all your allied units. - The buff also applies to villagers and traders so you can boost their walking speed by 25%. - You should never go with all relics into battle, you need one in reserve to rescue the others. - The shinobi can be used in the beginning while yoi fast imperial as a basic military unit. - The conversion damage buff is available already in castle without any upgrades. The nehan is the speed part only. This means you can damage boost your villagers and shinobi to defend around 8min. - If you build samurai bannermen they run at same pace as ona bugeisha, so if you buff them they become a very fast and deadly attack ball. - The units only have to touch the conversion ring to get buffed so you can walk through it. If monk gets sniped it’s ok. - With the nehan upgrade you get a shorter cooldown so about 4 relics makes it possible to continuously wololo your units indefinitely for the entirety of the game. - Buffing great bombards and other gunpowder units is the best as it’s only the base damage that gets buffed. Elephants are fun to buff as they get so fast. - You can nehan buff your villagers and traders to make them move faster. - If you damage boost the shinobi they become very deadly as they have a high base damage. Against meleee they would get 20 damage +5 (25% damage in castle from conversion buff) + 5 against melee + 3 from katana bannerman. They also recieve signifianct automatic upgrades across the ages so if you mass them its like getting all the upgrades for free. Thats quite good! - The monks with relics are fantastic when it comes to defending chokepoints. The counter to all of this is siege, as conversion and debuff does not affect siege. So some mistakes here were to not use the relics earlier (the moment the relics were captured and the gold generation was upgraded). Corvinus also did not buff the main push in the end while moving in. Battering rams recieve a massive damage bonus as they have a high base damage. When using the monks, he should have kept 2 relics in the frontlines while kept the rest of the relics in the bank for later usage. He also did not use the speed bonus to his advantage. The idea is to convert-buff-> hit (5 seconds)-> and do damage (20 seconds) -> retreat to heal (10s) -> cast convert buff -> hit (5s) -> etc. Edit: - A squad with shinobi, katana bannermen and ona-bugeisha only with the Nehan speed buff will be faster then scouts. If you need range you can combine with the archers who run at the same speed. However if you put a single spearman or regular samurai in their bunch they will be much slower. - In imperial japan has a melee upgraed in the university which makes it possible to tear down cities very very rapidly. Combined with the hit and run above it becomes very potent. - The buddhist monastery is supposed to be built aggressively as it has a very large debuff radious. The idea is to place them out as safe spots for relics in case you start loosing. - The nehan buff also applies to ships so esp. explosive ships gets a massive boost from both damage and speed bonus.

the monks are real i was looking at a single units THAT JUST WONT DIE. man not many player could do a comback like this. the fish and trade also keep bessty alive and i notice on the island there's a whole god damn plantation going on over there.
