I just use plastic baskets/milk crates with straw or wood shavings inside for nesting boxes. You can also hang the crates.

That would take up too much space

@@FarmUp Yeah it kind of does but it's better than not having enough space for them to lay. I don't keep many chickens though. Each chicken has it's own nesting box and the crates can be put around the entire perimeter of the chicken run with two rows, one on the ground and one above. Works well for me personally but just for backyard chickens.

Another awesome video Dr Daniel, learn something new everytime I watch one of your video's. I just found out a couple days ago that they don't really have a stomach they have a crop, correct me if I'm wrong. I understand now about the 40/60 ratio for morning/afternoon feeding too, more feed in the afternoon for the laying process overnight, thanks again
