You can use MDF or HDF plywood for the flooring of the top floor. The spaces can be sealed with glue. That will make cleaning easier.

Great. A bit more expensive though. And is it's strong?

Happy New Year to all Farmers and Agro-Entrepreneurs! In 2025, inspiration alone won't suffice-it’s time to take bold steps of faith and embark on our shared journey towards becoming successful farmers. Start small if you must, and even with limited resources, take the first step this year. Let us commit to working together across Africa, sharing advice on best practices and leveraging the opportunities provided by the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). By collaborating, we can access new markets, grow our businesses, and position ourselves as global leaders in food security. This year, we transition from inspiration to initiative, and from procrastination to profit.

Dr D, can you cover the options you have for dealing with all the waste, I get the layers are around 80wks but the broiler is a far quicker turnaround than them, my problem is that chicken waste is classed as a hot manure due to acidity levels so for me the layers are the better options as its pretty much composted at the 80wk stage . Happy New Year to you and the family 🙏🙏

Thank you for the videos Dr. Daniel. What about cleaning the house , what are the challnges that may arise based on the kind of floors you have like a concrete floor vs a brick floor vs a timber floor ? Is it a true a bad floor can cause cocodeoces?

40k broilers for 1200sqm? Not really good sir I guess it was a mistake.
@FarmUp11 күн бұрын
Was a quick calculation off my head just I case we used it for broilers. It's 1200 x 2...since it's 2 floors. So 2400 square metres...x 12 birds per square metre. Around 30k birds.
@ApribogogoAbite10 күн бұрын
Dr don’t you think 12 birds per sqm for age 0-6 weeks is a very high stocking density that can cause high mortality due to over stocking even if you have your biosecurity in place,ventilation and enough feeders and drinkers. I feel the stocking density that is been brandished by most farmers on the internet is actually not what practical farmers use. This is a major reason I think new farmers struggle with mortality after following all procedure. I think 8 birds per sqm is fair enough if you have all the above I mentioned. Please what is your thought.
@ApribogogoAbite10 күн бұрын
I also think we ought to tell intending farmers especially people from my country Nigeria that the stocking density fluctuates due to extreme weathers. You can’t go with a particular stocking density all the time. This I have found out,also causes serious mortality and low mortality rate is our target for profit making.
