I'm older than Farvan and I like Emit so he isn't too old but I do recommend the whole EP that song comes from rather than any of the individual songs on it. They need their atmospheric context, they need to contrast with each other for full effect. The only thing I disagree with is that I can't stand other people's opinions. I don't care about people disliking music I like. And I can definitely hear why someone would dislike Emit - and why his music might attract a lot of dicks.

I will list some bands that in my opinion could fit into this video, since they can be defined as weird or their music is characterized by an "unsettling" vibe/atmosphere that sets the listener on a different mindset than what you get from your ordinary "trve" black metal: 1. Silencer - Silencer is a black metal band from Sweden, there was an internet rumor years ago that its frontman, Nattramn, had cut off his hands and stitched actual pig hooves. Obviously this wasn't the case, His vocals are very distinctive and - to some people - even funny. Check out the album "Death - Pierce Me" 2. Botanist - Botanist is a black metal (?) band that uses dulcimer VSTs instead of real guitars. It's legit "weird", nothing more, nothing less. 3. K.F.R - The musical product of Maxime Taccardi, an artist who got famous in the metal community for using his own blood on his paintings. His music reflects this feeling quite a bit, it's very raw, dark and the productions helps with creating a vibe of this whole "nihilistic black metal" essence. 4. Reverorum Ib Malacht - If Dark Ambient music could meet black metal, avant-garde aesthetics, intentionally disharmonic soundscapes with chants and eerie atmosphere, this band would be the combo's spawn. A production style that gives this dark, lo-fi sound and the mixing just messes with the instruments' volumes and there's a cacophony that still makes sense though 5. Spektr - French black metal mixed with dark ambient/power electronica elements, it's an unsettling combo, even "scary" if I may say. The industrial elements are blended with avant-garde black metal riffs and certain moments of their albums will make you scratch your head 6. Puritas Virginum - French Ambient Black Metal with industrial influences, vocals similar to Silencer's, drums that'll remind you of that time when you were baning your grandma's head on the kitchen table because she burnt your roasted turkey with mango chutney and a dark atmosphere that sets off with the overall mixing 7. Ahulabrum - Legit....no idea. Based in the U.S, I remember reading a comment in an Ahulabrum album calling its music "an atrocity", go figure out on your own. Raw black metal with ambient stuff and it's lo-fi and it smells weird. 8, श्रवण (Sravana) - Harsh, almost noise-like black metal with Vedic elements, what would the outcome be if you mixed Black Cilice with throwing a rock at a window and Shiva was watching you doing it. The man behind the project also has a Raw Black metal act called Forest Thrall. He's weird 9. Jikininki - I found these...this....guy(s) today! And it's another combination of "black metal" and "dark ambient" but this time around, the mixing is the key here. Listen to the demo "The Star Ruby" and you'll figure out what I mean 10. Black Cilice - It's like a version of Emit that you might find more enjoyable, it's more raw, the dude screams his hate for mankind and the overall atmosphere takes you to an unsettling, dark and filthy journey that wishes to take down the sun itself Honorable mentions: Sigh, Imperial Circus Dead Decadence, Fulgor, Hissing, Koldovstvo, Circle of Ouroborus, Jacc, Evil Scarecrow, Lugubrum, Гнёт, Oranssi Pazuzu, Schlangengeist, Reek Of Unzen Gas Fumes, Diapsiquir, Pensées Nocturnes, Ebonylake, Wreche

If there's one disturbing black metal/noise song I can think of from the top of my head, it's Utarm's Black Light Aeon Apochryphia, from their Apochryphal Stories-album. Most of the album is sinister, but fairly tame. Yet as soon as you hear the intro of Black Light, you'll feel a shiver down your spine, and possibly bleed from your ears. It does eventually take it down a notch with the noise, but geez that intro! If I had to describe that song, it's like being a scared child lost in a dark forest, surrounded by nothing but unsettling noises and occasionally seeing something glimmer in the shadows, something you can't even tell what it is. It evokes that same dread in an adult man...

Aw why did I miss this? I got so much weird shit, that you gotta check out. - Sigh - 12 Souls - Sigh is known for having a really cheesy almost upbeat sound, but the way they arranged this song makes it so unsettling. Dissonant choirs, disjointed drumming, the random saxophone solo that would sound goofy, but somehow they made it sound creepy. - Dornenreich - Ich Bin Aus Mir - Really creative vocal work here. Almost sounds theatric. - Antecantamentum - Sacramentum Tenebrarum - It literally sounds like the Psycho theme. - Quest For Blood - Kosi No Emshiw - This entire album is one of the weirdest things to come out of black metal. It's like a mix between black metal, free jazz and Japanese traditional music. But this song takes the cake. - Carcharoth - A lény törekvése - I don't even what's going on here. - Todesstoß - Pantherwelle - Just dark dissonant oppressive monotony. - Aversio Humanitatis - Psalm Of The Wanderring - Something about the vocals just really does it for me. - GGUW - Behauptungsanimalität - It's a one song EP and boy what a song it is! Good luck finding it tho. - Bestia Arcana - Shepherd of Perdition - Another one that takes cues from the Psycho soundtrack. - Aluk Todolo - Repetitive Krautrock drums and basslines mixed with black metal dissonance. A very effective mix.

on Instagram I recommended Lamp of Murmuur - Chalice of oniric torment, because by "strange" I thought you meant something like cosmic horror. I don't know how to explain it, it's like coming across a witch town after getting lost in the forest... it's the guitar tone I think... But as for something unsettling or scary, I would recommend K.F.R, Nightbringer, Akhlys, Stalaggh or Darkspace. There's also this comfy synth project Snowy Hill House, but nothing about is "comfy", it really unsettles me for some reason.

Not me taking notes for a new project idea Also as an Emit fan, it's understandable that you're not into it, definitely not for everyone and that's okay. The appeal for me is that it's so disgustingly raw and even emotional, and they convey it through ambience and harsh noise. I think it's pretty bad ass personally, it's kvlt asf. Also I wouldn't consider Emit to be full fledged black metal as it really doesn't have much in the way of metal in it's sound. I'd more likely describe it as Black ambient or Blackened noise.

Deathspell Omega - Monotonous Ecstasy Of Death and Procreation Epidemic. I like the mixture of "traditional" riffing and dissonant chords. They have more unsettling stuff but I don't like DSO with Mikko Aspa P.S. Dark Metal is the best Bethlehem album

Reverorum ib Malacht deserve to be in this list (as one person mentioned in the comments before). Their most recent release ‘Vacuum. The mystery of faith. We proclaim your death, O Lord. And profess your resurrection until you come again.’ is a pretty comprehensive example of what makes them so unique, but most of their albums are pretty exemplary of their diverse idiosyncrasies. They’re also very unusual as a theologically very sound Roman Catholic Black Metal band who converted from ‘orthodox devil worship’, while not compromising in any way the extremity and integrity of the art (because that would dilute the point). It’s also worth noting that in the pre-Catholic days the band had links with Emit, but thankfully that hasn’t continued.

I recommend Begotten from Canada. Their album If All You Have Known is Winter has some very strong vocals. Nearing Bethlehem territory but not as high pitched and less deranged.

I love and enjoy many weird BM bands from Silencer, Bethlehem and Lifelover over Diapsiquir, Peste Noir and Pensee Nocturnes to the whole Dissonance BM rabbit hole (aka basiallcy any upload on the Odium Nostrum channel). There are some bands that arent my favs, but I can understand the appeal to some people. However there is one album I cant find myself to get into at all: Liturgy - H.A.Q.Q. Its like music written by a person who was born deaf. Liturgy had some interesting music in their catalogue, but that album is strange and terrible af. It´s trying too hard to be gimmicky, edgy and unpredicatable. It throws you some bones that appear to be artistical grand ideas, just to throw them down the garbage disposer with over the top pseudo experimental bs and pointless glitch effects. Definitely my Nr. 1 choice for weird Black Metal.

@@lordmanhammer666 Australia, and yes Russel is over black metal. his album "Though the melancholy tunnel of despair" is a bit more black metaly but not much. Even Scott (Xasthur) is done with black metal too and he just his accustic stuff. i don't think it's sad though, they've been doing fairly out there black metal since the early days so i guess there's only so much one has left in the tank so it is what it is.. I'm glad both Russel and Scott seem happy with the direction they've gone.
@lordmanhammer666 Жыл бұрын
@@robanzzz5124 absolutely agree, they did what was their thing and moved forward. Sometimes the channel we have for artistry is just that sinking everything we have in those projects is their own depth of what they bring or want to bring. We all want another Striborg or Xasthur project and for that I don't think it'd be the same. Look at many other bands that have come back from the dead to rehash of their old style, Metallica is a great example, we wanted so badly to have that early style comeback and they gave it their best, but it sounds terrible. With the legacy of both Striborg and Xasthur I wouldn't want them to tarnish themselves.
@robanzzz5124 Жыл бұрын
@@lordmanhammer666 I agree. There's lots of people (Me included) that would like to see xasthur and striborg return to black metal but both Russel and Scott has made it clear they are both done with the genre so it likely wouldn't work out the way we'd hope for. Just gotta be happy with what black metal releases they did do and be happy for both Scott and Russel that they both seem happy with the style change they've made, even if we're not into it.
