Before I knew skeleton horses could spawn in survival Minecraft, I came across one around my home and thought, “Whoah, Techno has one! I think these are rare,” and BAM! I set off the skeleton trap and spawned multiple of them with skeletons that had helmets. I freaked out, got in my home, geared up, and massacred every skeleton, leaving one horse alive for keeping. It’s a slow one, but it’s useful for bringing mobs to my base.

Found one near my house at night when I was coming back from exploring multiple villages at night, the lightning freaked me out and seeing the four horses with skeletons on them made me run to my house and gear up. I waited till morning for the mobs to die and managed to nab all four horses! Gonna keep them as trophies!

I was playing on survival server yesterday, type my /home command to my home sweet home but as i teleported back home a lightning strike in front 8 block of me and spawned a skeleton horse trap which instantly trigger it. Manage to tame one skeleton horse.

sadly when I encountered this, one of the skeletons hit each other and killed most of the horses leaving me with one. I tried to kill the skeleton on top of the last horse and killed the horse instead on accident. Edit: when i saw it happen i thought it was part of the vivecraft plugin i installed on my server for some reason because i've never seen anything like that happen

yup, something like that happened to me. Skeleton horse trap split into 4. One stupid killed stupid 2 (killing horse too). Tried to kill stupid 3 and killed the horse... I died many times trying to catch them and rename so the don't despawn while I come back with better after after trying to figure out how to kill the stupids but not the horses. Lucky me, trying to trap the last one, I suffocated the 4th stupid in a 2 block tall room. So I have my pretty darn rare Bones, sadly I couldn't choose the strongest or fastest one

I've been in an hardcore world for over 200 Minecraft days in the spawn and nothing so far despite letting all thunderstorms hitting my world for their full duration and actively looking for one in my Elytra, I doubt the chances to spawn a Skeleton trap is at 6% or I'm extremely unlucky, never seen one spawn but in a MP server on an island thousands and thousands of blocs aways from my home, couldn't bring one back then because of how much distance was needed so I let the dude who lived there get them all. I know they're kind of pointless when you have done everything else the game has to offer but it would have been nice to have one in my world without cheating. There's no easy way to get one, just be lucky or extremely patient I guess.

The Minecraft wiki states on hard mode, there is a 6% chance. Also it is more likely around spawn chunks. Sorry for your bad luck, but I promise you'll find one eventually (unless your world is glitched lol)

I was playing today in modded Minecraft testing out some things and trying to find others but overall just casually exploring my survival world while in the middle of the ocean during a thunderstorm a skeleton horse spawns took me a second to register it but I couldn't do much since it sunk down to the bottom didn't really want to go swim for it since there would have been no point but interesting experience

I had a skeleton horse.... once. It took ages and I had to try and not get killed by the skelly on his back. So it was a careful *WAR* between us - me vs Skelly & skelly horse and after a few arrows to the knee... face, neck, body arm and soul and giving the skelly a good beating... that horse was mine. The other horses weren't keen on him and he wasn't that fast so I neglected him and he wasn't there one day. I've not bothered looking to get another, too much hassle!!

I was just walking home and one was there never saw it till i heard thunder behind me, then 3 deaths later i have a friend.(sceletons killed most of their horses i was hoping to save all of 4 or at least 3 of them because im on multiplayer) the difficulty was normal, didn't have a thunder storm but did have rain not to long before. And sceltons in the newer updates have way to fast firing rates i get ping-ponged between two of them not able to hit neither

Ones in my game I was in survival and Izod four of them four of the skeletons watching the skeleton horses with enchanted iron helmet and iron chest plate and there was no light mean on them. They just Spond just like that.

I just had a thunderstorm in my Minecraft world. I thought, "Wouldn't it be nice to get a skeleton trap! I wonder if there is anything special I could do to get one more quickly". i think once you ride it or once you kill the skeleton it’ll stay. when he says they despawn after 15 minutes i think he means the trap horse not a regular one you’ve interacted with somehow. like how if you feed a panda once it’ll never despawn.

Neither, it generally spawns once those conditions are met. Natural lightning and trident lightning does not cause the horse to turn to a skeleton horse trap. They have a chance to spawn once a Thunderstorm is occurring in the overword. The more players and loaded chunks there are, the higher chance a trap will spawn.
