Round barns are rare. Poured concrete round barns are even more unique! The Fasen Concrete Round Barn is located near St. Cloud, Minnesota, built on the Peter Fasen farm in 1928 to house dairy cows and horses. As the cities of Sartell and St. Cloud continue to grow, historic family farms are being cleared away in the process. Since there hasn’t been any interest in reusing the Fasen Barn, significant deterioration has occurred. See how the farm site changes through the years, and learn a bit of history about the original owners. This is an incredible barn, which definitely would have been a gem in its heyday. If this barn is torn down, it will be a huge loss for Minnesota.

It’s sad to see these old farm sites disappear.

Still amazes me how these large and costly structures can be abandoned. Especially something as unique as a round cement barn. Thank you. Enjoyed very much.

This video is great once again! The detailed information in combination with the pictures gives you a very nice impression and you can guess what it was like there in the 30s, 50s or 60s. The life of the Fasen family. With all the things that concern everyone. And I don't know why, when you see these farms that were once the pride and source of income of their owners, it makes me very, very sad to see that the owners are probably going away first, then the buildings go down, then slowly the buildings disappear, after that everything is then leveled, the beautiful tree-lined avenue is chopped up. And until the last bit is gone, some idiots come along and spray and smear what used to be other people's property. It's actually a shame that architects or town planners don't see the potential and incorporate the beautiful buildings into their designs. Because the Fasen farm elements are also concrete, this would definitely work... It really is that it makes you absolutely sad. Very nice that you have erected a small memorial with your videos to these farms and yes, also to their owners. Thanks very much! Best regards!

What a shame to see the deterioration and graffiti of such a beautiful structure. If the roof was maintained, all of the structure would have been in tact and now that the surrounding property has been sold, a beautiful home could have been built in that round barn. What a shame to let all of that structure go to waste. Another great video from Minnesota Bricks! Long time subscriber... 😁👍👍👍👍👍

I owned and milked in a round barn in Ohio mine had a 8’ x 45 wood silo in the middle that held the roof as this one. Very efficient way to milk. Mine was made of paving bricks from the old road and wood.

Seeing the graffiti on things we care about saddens me. However, as always, excellent video.

I thought exactly the same. A shame that people do something like that... It should actually be preserved but other people damage and spray it... Something like that also makes me very sad...

U have to wonder if a round barn was efficient with the cows. To have the silo in the middle was neat. Wonder if the silo gave off heat in the winter due to the silage fermenting.Just to build that structure is something else.

I went to high school with a kid named Fasen a couple hours north of there. Wonder if its any relation? A little sad to see this building fall into disrepair, only to be torn down. What an interesting home/arena/gathering place it could have become!

@@thatmnguy6099that used to be my grandmothers and uncles farm. I helped them move from a farm south of Sauk Centre to there in 1977 when I got out of the navy and stayed and miked cows there. I liked the farm by Sauk Centre better because it didn’t have very many rocks unlike the one with the round barn and the barn was a lot less work. But have lot of good memories of both.
