You also need to make a collection for more than 4 seasons, which means overworking yourself and your employees. Every step takes you closer and closer to your grave. I’ve become so tired of modern fashion that I’ve formed an affinity for fashion from the 1910s - 1950s (hell, even Victorian fashion from the 1880s). Unfortunately in today’s social climate, I’m not able to wear anything I’m actually interested in due to the fear of coming across as an embarrassing posturer, or a peacock. The one thing that will be the most helpful to you is to not care about what negative comments people tell you about the style. Their opinion doesn't matter, it's the style and the fit that matters. Not only that, you'll get far more positive comments than you would negative. As a person who’s into fashion I’ve always stood for fashion being a form of self expression rather than becoming the next piece in an art gallery. My fashion tastes are kinda like a mix of 1980s fashion and soft boy fashion, with a few exceptions because it’s nice to have variety. Fashion doesn’t need to be complicated, a few accessories, some simple colour matching and colour balancing can go a long way. I remember seeing this one girl with crazy earrings with doll heads attached to them, and yet it worked because her outfit was personalised and simple. As long as you’re wearing something that you like then you’re golden, some of my friends would always ask me for fashion advice and I’d help them pick outfits out, however I always try to stick to their tastes in fashion rather than mine, if they like the outfit I picked then great but if they don’t like the outfit then we try something else.

At the end of the day, fashion is art. Whether it’s ready-to-wear or haute couture, there’s a lens that the designers apply in order to make what they do. I don’t think MOST fashion brands are trying to garner attention with outfits like this. They tell a story that may not be understood by many. Avant garde fashion or Haute Couture typically isn’t meant to be worn for everyday use. It’s an art piece, like a moving sculpture. Whatever story behind the art piece came from a person that applied it into a form of expression. This isn’t to say that fashion can’t be critiqued, though. Art is subjective, and if anything, I hope that this can help us learn what fits our preference.

I feel with fashion(in runway shows) brands are now making artistic/ abstract outfits not for wearing but more of a piece of art, like with fashion textiles in education, it’s not supposed to be something to wear, it’s a piece of art opposed to wearable fashion

Concerning art, i always was in fucking awe at the fact that people consider those black lines on a canvas to be fine art, even allowed to be in the same category as the mona lisa or a picasso like wtf i could shit on a canvas and spread it out and you people would buy it??
