The Middle Ages Gothic architecture really has nothing to do with "Goth" the way it is meant here. What is relevant is the way that architecture was retrospectively interpreted e.g. in the Victorian era - that idea that it was dark, gloomy and spooky, which is not actually true. Most of the Gargoyles you see on "gothic" churches are actually 19th century additions to make it look like the romantic idea of gothic.

This runway gave me blue balls. Great category with highly disappointing results. I was also in the big goth gang growing up & most of these do look like someone who just looked up 'goth', took some of the clichéd details but then the look as a whole had very little relation or essence of goth. Jan, Pandora, and Kylie are the only ones who hit the mark for me. I seen people on Facebook claiming Kylie's was a miss, but absolutely not in my book! Definitely plenty of girls with similar looks like that in the scene in the countries I've lived in. Maybe it's a locational thing but she is absolutely representing a subsection of goth girls very successfully! To me, Ra'Jah really looks like a pretty, popular girl who would be bullying the goth girls, to be honest!

Honestly, none of them really went there with GOTH. It is just my ignorant ass’s opinion. Don’t come for me. But, I used to rock the Tripp pants, at the very least, a Skinny Puppy or Marilyn Manson t shirt, poorly homemade black died hair, sometimes black eyeliner, and some sick black boots. (Usually platform.) I actually had a coffin shaped backpack in middle school!!! Idk though, why didn’t I get GOTH from this runway???? Maybe I’m just nuts, or too old and I have no clue where goth has evolved to in recent years.
