Not all fashion rules are worth following but follow these rules and you’ll definitely level up your outfits. Whenever I talk about fashion rules I can pretty much guarantee to get people fired up . . . and for good reason. I mean most of us don’t really like being told what to do at the best of times and when it comes to fashion we don’t like the idea of someone dictating our personal style of even worse telling us it’s wrong. For today’s episode I’ve been looking at the current trends and seeing some simple styling tricks that are levelling up outfits and thought I’d compile a few of them in today’s video. And because I like to say that rules are meant to be broken - if you don’t agree with any of these rules then just leave them. I’m simply trying to share what I’ve seen happening recently and give you some inspiration to tweak some of your own outfits and give them a little more stylish.
But I'd love to know what you think about these rules and if there are some new "fashion rules" you think are worth following.

It's the 'fashion of today' rather than change a channel, watch it all and complain about everything!! All the old shows on TV now 'inappropriate' for the modern Waagh, Waagh mindset of today!!! I have basic white tees from Old Navy that are close to 20 yrs old now. They are 100% cotton (not tissue paper thin) & scoop neck (I hate a crew)when they start looking dingey or yellow I soak them in Oxiclean & they look brand new. it's now difficult to find pure cotton tees, most are poly blends or modal & very sheer. Black pants & jeans are everywhere, so is dark denim or navy pants. Just buy good quality within your budget. Personally I prefer to invest in footwear (prefer real leather) & a good coat or purse in a neutral color. Even high quality items will show wear & tear if worn & laundered often. So you might need multiples at a lower price point. Most likely the trends will change or you will tire of it before you wear it out, so there's no need to break the bank on tees, jeans, seasonal only wear clothing imo.

I like my wide leg trousers and jeans almost touching the floor no matter what shoes I wear, don’t like short trousers legs, I don’t wear heals but I like flatforms so I have different lengths of trousers to suit different shoes 👍

YES about keeping the "tones" of outfits the same! In my opinion that's usually the reason an outfit looks off, is the tones are mixed!!

I love the jeans you're wearing! I've found that when taking up wide leg pants (I'm a shorty) I make the front slightly shorter than the back, so you still have that break over the front of your foot but the back gives you that skimming the floor look. There are several youtube videos on how to do it.

Thanks for the tips and reminders. Always enjoy your videos! Would love to see some 3 color combo videos. I usually wear a belt if my belt loops are showing. Plus, I need one many times to hold my pants up at my waist. I usually buy up a size for my larger hips & thighs which means the waist is too big. Sometimes I take my pants to the tailor. I did skip a belt with my black pants recently. I still tucked my blouse in and wore a blazer but no belt. Wearing ballet flats with wide leg pants is interesting. I remember that was a huge “no” back in the day. Fashion is always changing. I love ballet flats with just about anything. Wore mine with shorts the other day. Thrilled they’re trending. When I think of supreme style, and a classic icon of style I think of Katherine Hepburn 💖. She is unmatched on menswear style brought to excellence. This is how I dress and the Ralph Lauren urban and Western look is also along those clean and beautiful lines. I wear wide leg and straight pants, but mostly wide leg...and I am also 5 foot 11 inches tall so it's very hard to find them in a long length. Thus, the shorter, or crop culottes work just great for me. Thanks for the videos, and ignore the haters😊

Regarding the matching leathers: I think a completely different colour looks current but a perfectly matching (belt and shoes, for example) can look great too. The issue is more when the colours are quite close but are the wrong tone (notoriously the case for tans!), that the effect can come off as “trying too hard” but missing the mark.

I wish I knew exactly what pair warmer tone colors with other warmer tone color, same for cool tones with other cooler tones would look like. Alot of this information is old news. Color combinations didn't have visuals with them. Then don't match colors in your outfit or accessories but match your denim. Unless pieces come as a set it is hard to match denim. Most of this video contradicts other rules or is common sense. Then how is the sponsor going to be a luxury handbag company but the next rule is not needing to buy expensive basics. Not a good segue.

Agree that there is a lot of old information. Specifically, matching shoes and handbags have not been done in decades. Navy & black has been acceptable for many years. I remember it being a thing years ago and I started wearing navy & black together back then and have been wearing it together for years since then. In fact, if is one of my favourite color combinations. Black for summer I agree is a relatively new "style rule".

Hmmmm it's tricky. Mine is the medium and it definitely doesn't feel too big. I suppose it depends on how you plan on wearing it the most and how big your phone is. Sorry that I can't be any help -eek!
