amazing as always, so cool to see your whole process, do you plan to do more on Balenciaga or try with other couturiers? ( Madeleine Vionnet is my favorite, and she infuenced Balenciaga a lot at the begining of his carrier, since he was coping her toiles for the spanish market

Did Vionnet sell her toiles ? I mean how did Balenciaga copy ? I wonder if Balenciaga ever sell toiles himself. Probably not haha. Do you think of Vionnet as a true creator ? Is that why she's your favourite ? :)

it was commong during the first half of the 20th century for parisian couture house to sell their patterns or toiles to other establishments all over Europe or even magazines like vogue, At the time, Balenciaga was working for a small spaish house who bought french patterns and was adapting them to the spanish market, It say in his biography Vionnet was his favorite to study To me Vionnet was a true creator, sice she created and pionnered the bias cut, wich became the iconic silhouette of the 30's and the Hollywood golden age

Ghesquière did a fantastic rendition of this shape minus the bows for his Fall 2011 collection at Balenciaga :) The toile made by Balenciaga himself was exhibited at the Kering headquarter last year.

I am so fascinated by your knowledge and skill! I have a question - what is the measurement of the grainline grid you draw before draping?

I have seen other patternmakers mark their muslin with a grid when they drape and specifically when draping Balenciaga. Could you explain the dimensions of the grid and your reasoning for doing so?

Question though: do you keep all of these muslin samples? Or do you part them to use the fabric for new projects ,and only keep the paper patterns?
