Sure, RC crawling is typically about navigating slowly through rocks and rough terrain. But there are times when you need power to get through the rough. And then there's also times where you need power just to have some fun. John is at it again, testing different brushless system combinations so you can see just how much power and control a combo has. If you're looking for a combo that is fast and still has plenty of torque and control, you need to see this video. John installs a 3500 Puller Pro and Castle Copperhead into his Traxxas TRX4 Bronco and take it out for a run through the trails, rocks and even a rip around the street so you can see what this system is capable of.

Excellent content on a great motor ;) I grew up with a 1979 XLT with turbine rims, lift bigger tires, and a 351 Cleveland. This was family vehicle #2. Two tone paint. This Bronco looked great alongside the Torino wagon that dad had to put a built 351C in. Mom loved that....lol

I've had my 3500 Puller Pro and Mamba X sitting in a box for months, waiting on me to finish the cage for a bouncer (need to tig the shock mounts).... This gave me some motivation to finish. Fast and controllable.... Seems perfect.

Ive used a 3800kv castle slate motor with a mamba x in a trx4. It was incredibly fun, but speaking of stock rigs on the trail......there is a channel called dirt every day on motor trend...they drove stock 70s jeep, and a stock 76 chevy 3/4 ton pickup on the rubicon trail. It was surprising how far you could push something that wasnt modified at all.

Probably going to put that same motor/esc in my trx4 sport. I can gear all the way down to 9t pinion 45t spur if necessary. Two speed may be in its future as well.

I have the sunset bronco & babied it for about a week "that body is amazing" then had to actually take it out & use it, now its pretty rough but still good. Its kinda top heavy, I rebuilt the shocks & add a small amount off brass & it helped. I just got the jconcepts 89 Ford tucked body but having a hard time taking off the bronco & inner fenders all the lights lol. Might have to put it on my sport!! Awesome vid!! We could all use some scale watermelons!!!🤣🤣

I was just thinking of the perfect set up for my son the other day Puller Pro 3300 in an Element Ecto. Give him good low speed and enough to run in the 1.9 u4 all in one set up. Now to figure out what the perfect setup would be in something like a welded cage 1/10 Monster truck. Im thinking the 3500 would be just right. id like it to be pretty scale for air and power.

Which do you prefer of the SCX10:3 and the Trx-4? Trx with the locking diff option and two speed? I find that the two speed in the SCX10:3 is more of a gimmick than something that's actually useful, only way for me to tell which gear I have is to do speed runs and see which setting gives the highest speed, for slow crawling there's no difference to me
@chevyon37s
@chevyon37s 3 жыл бұрын
Crawling in 2nd gear will have less control and build more motor heat. So yea, with a good brushless system the two speeds aren’t needed.

@@chevyon37s I have a temp sensor on the motor and I don't get much difference in temp depending on what gear I use
@Bird7x

I have both and I can say that I like my TRX-4 much more. The SCX 10.3 is a decent trail truck but you are right, the 2 speed is useless. It had almost no noticeable impact on how fast it went in either gear. The dig is nice but the stock servos are terrible. TRX-4 has a 2 speed that has a noticeable difference in speed and I do like the locking diffs, even if its very limited in real use. In the end, I wish I had just got a builders kit when it comes to the 10.2, a better truck than the 10.3, in my opinion.
@patrikmoller3643
@patrikmoller3643 3 жыл бұрын
@@Bird7x I'm getting more and more convinced that I should sell the Axial and get me a Trx-4, I would like to have a kit without the electronics though and knowing Traxxas that won't ever happen. The new Bronco with the "come here" solution to the bosy mount seem way batter than Axials stupid hidden clips. I've had hidden clips on my Ascender for four years and they are way easier to use than what Axial created
@Bird7x
@Bird7x 3 жыл бұрын
@@patrikmoller3643 For me the Axial 10.3 was just a bust. It is basically a 10.2 with a crappier transmission. I love the ar45 axles and as I said before, the dig is a nice option. The 10.3 body that came with the kit is the best they have done so far and it looks great. However, the 10.3 isn't cheap and when I compare it to a similar setup TRX4, I know its not close for me and many people that I run with. That isn't to say the TRX4 is vastly superior but it is to say that the value for your money seems more in favor of Traxxas.
