Best thing about it is that it’s a sleeper. No one is getting the performance out of this car on Britain’s roads let’s face it so folk saying it’s not a fast car around bends etc is talking drivel.

😂 good humour but even better review. Subscribed and look forward to what you drive next. 😊 Anyway… the car…….Very helpful review…there is one on the way in our family and as an update these can now be bought new for under 30k as ours was. That makes them “no brainer” territory really. You can do climate on the steering wheel also rather than going through the touchscreen. If 180 mile range fits your life it’s s great value car. I have the EQB for family duties and previously an ipace. Both similar ranges and in 6 years I’ve used public charging once. I think that’s the key to EV. Charge at home and all is well. Use the network and you’ll hate them.

Yay the jacket is back! Parked next to one in the Matt green the other day and have to say it looks very nice indeed, but it does look exactly the same inside as a friends who’s got the lowest spec model. On my shortlist for next company car, but the long range makes so much more sense. Head or heart? That’s the question.

Looking at one of these (amongst others) on the salary sacrifice.On one hand I have 'this thing costs the same as it costs me to run my old banger, is newer and goes really fast in a straight line'. On the other there is 'It doesn't look like a particularly nice place to sit for four years, there are other cars that accelerate as fast that look nicer and stand out a bit more' notably the Smart #3 Brabus. So it's on my shortlist but I think this video has just about talked me out of it. I *think* I'll spend a bit more on something else. Probably. The way I see it: Pro + For the money you can't accelerate faster + Warranty + Does everything you need a car to do, albeit not in a great or interesting way + Speedo in front of you (Tesla take note and the less said about indicator stalks the better) Con - doesn't look especially exciting or enticing - there's loads about (just like white Tesla Model 3s actually) - it would be nice if the brakes were better and the suspension better suited to go round corners (but then would cost more) - I look at the interior and am transported back to the 90s/early 2000s - doubts about build quality, with wind noise, stone chips, probable creaks and rattles. Unsure about Dealer/waiting times for repairs - depreciation is startling. If you bought an Xpower new look away - you can buy a 1 year old
@chrism29642 ай бұрын
It is fast around corners, just not perhaps the best feeling. For reference it managed a sub 8 minute nurburgring time with non-eco road tyres. Thats damn fast, putting only a little behind the fastest hot hatches, despite having a much lower top speed. As for range EVs are better in town and the Xpower is pretty good compared to many. 180 isnt 'hardly any' when plenty of similar priced small EVs barely manage 100. Ultimately if you're banging up and down the motorway then no its not the best bet, but if you do mostly town its more than fine, and 290 miles is possible. As others have pointe out the days of having 'fun' in a powerful car are gone, too much traffic, low speed limits, too many invasive cameras. Traffic light drag races (to the limit) are all we have left.. for now, Im sure that will be illegal soon.

Sounds like a swing and a miss. Am curious on though the hyundai ionic5 N looks like it would be fun (have never driven an EV before).

I test drove this thinking of a performance hatchback ! To be honest the best thing about it was the acceleration from zero to 60 otherwise I couldn't wait to return to the dealership, very ordinary to drive, I'll keep my cp gr yaris for acouple more years ❤

Oh dear. I must be a simpleton as I love my smart #1 Brabus due to its acceleration and I like the way it drives. Don't think I will get board of the speed well maybe, but only to get something faster😂 Yes its more expensive than the x power but love the smart interior much better than the MG.

I don't really like how the MG4 cockpit area looks. It looks like somebody just had various bits to scatter around the driver and stuck them wherever he could find space. The front display just looks like somebody took an angle grinder to the edge of a table to cut out a slot and then stuck some cheap 3rd party display panel there at the last minute.

My dad has the long range single motor and it's a decent car. But fun it is not. Adding straight line performance to a boring drivetrain doesn't make them fun, it's just more willy waving

Different company these days as I'm sure you are aware. In China it's called the Mulan. In the UK MG is seen as a budget brand with keen pricing ( for the most part ) and reasonable styling. Most seen are the various SUV's and the soon to be replaced MG3 hatchback ( which is now a hybrid alongside a lower priced manual petrol )

Sorry Tim, tried to engage with the review of this MG appliance but, after about 5 or 6 minutes simply had to end with this message. Just can not get enthused by EV’s. They simply don’t stir the emotions or elicit any desires for owning one. And having owned a string of Alfas over the decades , I’m terrified by the thought of having to concede……of course that will never happen, even an electric Alfa wouldn’t get me to part with the folding. They’re (EVs) are simply inconvenient as an only car. And the insurance…..did I mention that?
