are the clusters interchangable on the sedans and coupes if theyre the same style? like the wire harness plug in on the back of the cluster
@Freddy-kr2sz7 ай бұрын
Did you ever figure this out? I'm planning on pulling a cluster out of a salvaged sedan for my coupe. I'ma just try to keep track of the miles for when I get a newer, programmed cluster from Tanin Electronix

THANKS! The Z is pretty simple as well. If I ever get my hands on one, I will do a little DIY on it.

So did the ignition swap end up working without having to go to the dealer? If so what all did you have to swap out
@jamesefelton1 Жыл бұрын
I was a dealer mechanic for years and this has to be the most ridiculous car repair I have ever done. All this to replace a couple of dash light bulbs? Ridiculous! That said, it would help a lot if the people doing these videos would start off telling you WHAT is holding the stupid dash cluster in. After all, I took several things loose that are not necessary (and will be difficult to put back). The first (and biggest problem) is that each of these Infiniti models seem to be substantially different. I watched 10 of these videos and my 2008 G35X doesn't come apart like ANY of these. But the one thing these videos all have in common is that they ALL skip all the connectors you have to take loose AFTER you get the gauge cluster loose. (Hint: roll the windows up before you take the ignition switch connectors loose, after all you may never get the damn thing back together.) That said, my advice is, have a couple of lights out? DEAL WITH IT. This thing was not made to EVER come apart. IN CONTRAST, I can replace every dash bulb in my F-150 in less than an hour. This thing? I have 6 hours in it and it still isn't completely out. Um, did I mention that I stabbed myself in the hand with a screwdriver trying to take some of these connectors apart?

Sorry but is there a way to change the actual gauges from the plastic panel so I can put my old gauge back in as my plastic got broken when someone broke into my car
@salvageperformance51703 жыл бұрын
Defiantly yes! you can strip the cluster down to its faces and piece it back together with other parts if you need to replace them.
@rickyymunoz4 жыл бұрын
Thanks ! I needed this cus the cover on the top rattles too much, it sounds like loose screws or something, or could it be broken clips ? Previous owner said he took it to a shop once to remove the cluster for something..
@yerrrmadf36533 жыл бұрын
So was it cause of loose screw or broken clips cause the cover on mine is loose too

What size are the bulbs?
@SomeRandomHuman7174 жыл бұрын
On the 2003 G in the video, the Nissan part number is 26262-01P40, 3 watt, black plastic twist-base. The bulb itself is just pushed into the black twist-socket. The bulb is the same dimensions as a #74 bulb, but a #74 is rated for only 1.4 watts, while the OEM bulb is rated for 3 watts. If you install a standard #74 bulb, the diminished brightness will stand out next to the brighter OEM bulbs. Dorman has a pack of five bulb/twist sockets under part number 639-010, but I found that no local parts store stocked them.

I’m planning on changing mine but how would my miles go would I of to buy a cluster with same mileage?
@salvageperformance51704 жыл бұрын
A used Odometer will carry the mileage from its past vehicle. There is a way to reprogram them to read whatever mileage you want, but for reasons such as odometer fraud, it is likely going to be hard for you to find an easy way to change it. Software does exist, and people have edited their own readings, but its a sketchy situation if you do it outside of a professional shop where they provide documentation of the service.
