Hey handsome, would you also call this appraoch "stiff-arm staccato", as used in the Heifetz Hora Staccato? Thanks.

I'm not familiar with this term. Did Heifetz mention anything? In any case, the bowhold I recommend for this, is practically the Heifetz bowhold. And yes there is an amount of stiffness involved but mostly on the fingers, not the arm I'd say.
