If Indycar is 'on the fence' about keeping Pocono on the schedule, then why should Pocono invest millions in building higher walls that other series don't need. Gotta build better relationships with the racetracks.

Bring back Michigan, Fontana, Chicagoland, Kansas & homestead please oval tracks makes this series what it is.

After all the turmoil from yesterday, at least there are some reason in all this, the three most important drivers of the series (Power, Dixon, and Pagenaud) are agree that the series needs to keep the track in the schedule, is great to know that such a great champions are making a great opinion in terms that it's not the track's fault, what happen to Justin Wilson and Robert Wickens could happen in other tracks too. There are some people insist that Pocono is too wide and fast and dangerous, so they have to drop from the calendar, but if is for that, then, what are they doing at Indianapolis, sorry for what I'm going to say, but sometimes, I feel that one part of the fans of IndyCar, specially in the US are really a bunch of cry babies, first they are not happy with some venues, with some drivers and even with the future of the series, and now they want to see out of the calendar a track who was built for IndyCar, and then the same people complains of the lack of ovals in the schedule, who understand this people?
@Thumbsupurbum5 жыл бұрын
I agree, but they really need to have a better plan for repairing the fence. I'm no expert, but it doesn't look like zip tying scrap pieces of fencing together is safe enough. If a 2-3 hour red flag is needed to repair it properly then so be it.
@DrColoso5 жыл бұрын
@@Thumbsupurbum I was thinking the same, probably changed the fence for other more stronger, with better materials, and I hope if Pocono stays, the track owners and the people of IndyCar can work together with a solution, everything is possible.

Yea, they always want to blame Sato, but in reality Rossi has a tendency to muscle his way around the track. Was obvious right away that Sato had gone ahead of Rossi and Rossi clipped his back tire. Ultimately the guy you can probably blame the most is Hunter-Reay, for squeezing Rossi up the track.

To me that looks like Sato coming down as a result of contact, not before. From what I can make out from each driver's onboard and using the track as a point of reference (including Sato's, he posted it to twitter), Hunter-Reay and Rossi both moved up (thinking they were clear.) Sato's 3-wide dive results in contact, but that looked clear when he committed. He was also keeping to the main racing line (see. Dixon, the rest of the field) while Hunter-Reay went low to try to pass Rossi (during which he was also moving back up to try to stay in the draft.) Basically: "Racing incident." I think all three contributed to the accident.

I don't think it is, if you watch the onboard footage from Rossi at 4:33 you'll see Sato come along the right side and go across the front of his car. Rossi was travelling virtually in a straight line I don't see him move left, I think Sato had a run and was trying to get ahead so he could either get the slipstream on or pass Dixon but didn't realise the gap wasn't there

Sato needs a reprimand. He said he misjudged it, but playin' it that close at quadruple the speed limit is just pure stupidity. He could've killed a guy with them antics. I really like the guy, both as a person and a driver. I also think he is one of the best drivers in IndyCar right now. But a move like that requires disciplinary action. Edit: There's another video which shows proof very much to the contrary. If anything, based on this, Sato looks to be an innocent bystander just trying to make a pass. I still think he shouldn't have held Rossi quite so tight, but I was wrong in blaming him so much. Video in question: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g56plKJsbZ5pobs

@mitchell-wallisforce78595 жыл бұрын
@@brycering5989 Huh, fair point. Sato still had enough room up high to avoid a situation like this. He likely forgot about the extra 1.5 ft of track to his right in the quest for the slipstream, holding Rossi narrow when he was already getting up close and personal with RHR. I still think Sato is most to blame here, but I should now probably say that yeah, Rossi did come up slightly, and at the end of the day the three of 'em were fighting tooth and nail for Dixon's slipstream. But whether he tried to close out the move on Rossi and misjudged it, or he simply held an increasingly twitchy Rossi tight against Hunter-Reay, it was his lack of awareness that played the most crucial part in causing this accident. He either held a nervous Rossi in a tight spot next to Hunter-Reay when there was extra space available while fighting for the tow, or he came down slightly and caught Rossi, or both. No matter what scenario it is, Sato takes most of the blame. I will say that, in hindsight, Rossi should've backed out, and had no reason to move the steering wheel even slightly in a situation that sketchy. H*ck, he shouldn't even be letting himself stay 3 wide with these dudes with nothing to lose. He may be a fighter, but he has a championship to think about. Nice catch, it was a slight but kinda stupid move of the wheel (or maybe RHR twitched and Rossi got nervous) that means Rossi takes a good portion of the blame himself.
@brycering59895 жыл бұрын
@@mitchell-wallisforce7859 Sato does come down a little going for the slipstream, I can't get over how much Dixon pushed Rossi then Hunter pushed Rossi and then Sato tried but now he has nowhere to get pushed to.. You just know Dixon was playing them. jumping slipstream from one to the other to keep it tight between them (Done that myself on iRacing) I know what it's like to have a bad start and get jumped like that, took me ages to learn to back out when that happens, but this is IRL and no resets, but Rossi did get off the gas, you can see it just before the contact. Open wheel superspeedway racing is indeed insane, but Wickens as any other driver should've known the risk. He unfortunately had to pay a hefty price, but to now come out and tweet bullshit shows that his risk assessment was way off coming from what might be the safest racing series in the world which is the DTM (zero fatal accidents in it's history). I think if he ever gets back into racing he should not chose Indycar, because it just isn't for him.

It sounds crazy but I think it’s just a matter of time before racing is a thing of the past. It seems like more and more people want to nerf the entire planet. With communication around the world all but instantaneous, we’ve become a society that operates completely by knee jerk reaction- based often only on conjecture. If a group of guys wants to get into cars and go 200+ mph then who is anyone else to say they can’t? It’ll either be the environmental alarmists or the safety alarmists but, either way, I can see a time where outrage culture sinks it’s misinformed teeth into the last bastion of gladiators(I’m looking at you too, football).

But isnt the S5000 Motor a bit weak? I consider IndyCar to be one of the biggest and most high end Race Series of the world. 560hp is a bit weak. And yes you could supercharge that engine and get a 1000hp out of it, but I dont think, Honda and Chevy want to promote engines percived as old and innefficient by the public. IndyCar badly needs more power. I would love to see them running a good old V8, but the only way to get 900HP and keep the sport growing, is to use 2,4L V6 Twinturbos with KERS. And lets be honest, thats not that bad.
