I believe Craig Lieberman who helped with 'The Fast and the Furious' said that the floor thing had nothing to do with anything, the execs just wanted sparks and danger, or something. It didn't make sense. His videos on the making of are pretty good. He also confirmed that Dom and the Charger would have easily beat the Supra in the final race, even with the damage to the Charger.

Frontline Productions except they were never about "just street races". This film has one street race and a few quick drag races at race wars while being focused on Brian joining the team and his loyalties being tested. 2 had two street races and was about Brian mending his friendship with Roman and bringing down a drug lord. Tokyo Drift was the only one where there was a good portion dedicated to racing. Overall the races were never the focus but merely the backdrop for the real storylines.

The first movie opens with a scene featuring a team of people hijacking a moving truck, and generally performing acts that would be well beyond the skill or nerve of pretty much anyone. One of the key scenes in the movie is the exact same thing, but with revealed main characters and drama.

Weird thing to me is his Eclipse falls apart around 150mph. My bog standard £5k Ford Mondeo TXS tops out 152mph and I assume that means "safely", not falling apart. My old £600 Nissan Primera eGT hit 142mph once (138mph top speed but was slightly downhill). Not sure these cars should fall apart like that. But life does feel like it's passing you by super quick above 130 for sure.

Would've been better if it matched the apparent engine that's portrayed. No way that's a rotary. I know the sounds are probably dubbed but that's definitely an inline 6, 2J or an RB that you are hearing. The only rotary close to that sound at low revs would be a 20B but it would be screaming its head off at higher rpms.

The original Fast & Furious is my Favourite Film Of All Time and is my favourite of the entire franchise. I grew up watching it on VHS countless times (Which I still have along with the DVD of it, but I keep it on display) and it was what got me into cars in the first place and the film itself will forever hold a special place in my heart. It's just crazy to see how the Fast & Furious franchise evolved over the years from being low budget car culture/heist films (The first 3 films) to a big budget OTT generic superhero action blockbuster franchise after that.
