They explained Han in this movie with the "I hear they're doing some crazy shit in Tokyo" line, implying that he had never been there at this point in his story. Fast 4, and the next few, all take place before "Tokyo Drift." The writer & director understood that despite "Tokyo Drift" (at the time) not being super well received by fans, Han as a character had become a favorite, so they had to find a way to include him in these later installments without contradicting what happens in that movie.

Same, Fast 5 is my favorite followed by the the 1st one and Tokyo Drift. (tokyo drift was legendary back when it came out because so many pioneers are in the film)

Honestly, this one gets a bad rap but I think it was a great soft-reboot for the series. Did a good job bringing back the original crew, while slowly but surely shifting what the movies moving forward were gonna be about. It's not my favorite, but in the grand scheme of 10+ movies, it lands squarely in the middle for me, leaning to one of the "good" ones. And man, I remember watching this in theatres. Han's line, "I hear they're doing some crazy shit in Tokyo" got a bit of an applause from the audience.

Hey Ladies, luv u both and luv these movies but Steph someone should of warned u. the golden rule of F&F movies is they are not set in reality, dont question - gravity, death, the fact that the team dont get hurt and have sometimes superhuman like strength and remember the cars are mostly invincible, especially Doms. dont question this shit and u will have a great time, do and u will be scratching ur head throughout and u will not enjoy them

Just so you know movies 4-6, and the start of 7 take place before 3, but they do bring everything together as long as you stick with it. Steph and Kristen, Fast and Furious 4, Fast 5 & Fast and Furious 6 are prequels "Before" Tokyo Drift, which is why you're seeing Han in these movies. You should have watched these before Tokyo Drift to understand the story. But you'll eventually get your explanation as to what happened after Tokyo Drift. Caution though, these sequels get more ridiculous and defy logic, but the stories, comedy and action are awesome in these sequels! They're basically street racers that become superheroes so to speak.
