The biggest dissapointment for me is that they keep changing things that happened in previous movies. Often it is small details like Dom's father dying in a stock car instead of the 70's charger that Dom built up in the garage, but sometimes it is big changes like Han surviving tokyo drift and adding a third sibling to the Toretto family that we just conveniently never heard about until now.

The FnF franchise is weird because it is comprised of several different genres, each one of which appeals to a different audience, yet the camaraderie brings most of those audiences together even for the films that do not line up with their genre. 1 was a typical action thriller revolving around a very specific scene in a specific point in time. 2 was basically a buddy cop movie framed after things like bad boys. 3 brought it back conceptually to a thriller revolving around a specific car scene. 4 was the reintroduction of the main players and really a transitionary movie to the heist genre, which was 5 5 was The Italian Job, FnF edition. 6 dropped the heist idea, and instead introduced the hero concept, where "the family" now began the governmental agency backed special operatives... which is absurd for a bunch of street racers, but whatever. 7 was basically 6 part II, but did well as it was a fitting good bye to Paul Walker, but it is also notable as the first major "jumping the shark" (The tower to tower car scene). And the problem with jumping the shark, is that now the series is in an arms race to top itself every movie, in the specific arena of absurd stunt. in 8, we go from special ops, to straight up spy shit. The ice charger, with all its gadgets, might as well been 007's car, and they literally jumped a Submarine. And so it is no surprise then, that 9 pulled a Moonraker and went to space. And that movie literally breaks the fourth wall at times to make fun of its own absurdity, where Tyrese cannot believe he can do all these stunts and not have a scratch on him. So where does that leave the franchise? No where, in its current incarnation. Short of time travel or straight up magic, there is no way to really top 9's shark jump, so 10 will probably just be tying up loose ends, with some crazy stunts as fanfare. The series basically has no future without a complete reboot, but because the current incarnation is so dependent on an aging core cast, and the original premise of the 00's racing scene is no longer relevant, it's anyone's guess on what that would be, or who it would cast.

The series jumped the shark long ago with _Fast Five._ That train heist scene of Dom & Brian driving off the canyon cliff into the river below and having *no injuries whatsoever* as they landed into the water at such a high velocity was when I tuned out completely. It was a far cry in comparison to the first film when the last drag race resulted in Dom crashing; he showed physical injuries then but in F5 he & Brian are suddenly superhuman?🤦‍♂️ I haven't watched any of those since then & by all accounts, these flicks have been churned out in the same manner that _Transformers_ was & is now unrecognizable from what it started as.

A car with enough fuel in the tank to break orbit, numptess space walking in 1960's diving suits having survived impact into a satellite, knocking on the window of the ISS through a diving bell helmet to ask for a lift - totally believable. The problem with these films is they expect you to feel the jeopardy of the situation to make it exciting -but in a situation so ridiculous it becomes a farce.

i love the first three movies a lot, the first two obviously are at the heart of the series and where a lot of fun to watch as a kid, and growing up with a passion for japanese culture, albeit at the time, being fifteen or sixteen i was a bit screwed with anime and games being the major part of that passion, fast 3 tokyo drift was a welcome piece of entertainment, i remember telling my cousin at the time "i dunno man, i like fast 1 and 2, but i like the plot and the action, i'm not big on the racing" now mind you as i've gotten older i've come to enjoy the gearhead porn in these movies, but at the time i didn't care for it, but he said "but jerry, it's about a hillbilly who goes to japan, and they race sideways" and i was like "the @#$$?" and upon watching it, i was blown away by the scenery, the characters, the cars, and the drifting, which i had never heard of before and to this day is still my favorite form of performance driving, i still consider tokyo drift to be my second favorite of the movies right after the first film

As a fan of the series, I would have just preferred the sequel bring back all the old villains who want to take down Dom and his "family", or revenge. Maybe Cypher has people break out Lance (Johnny Tran's right-hand man in the 1st film, who was injured last time we saw), Carter Verone (2nd movie) and some of his gang, Takashi (3rd movie), Arturo Braga (4th movie), and Brixton (Hobbes and Shaw) though that depends on if he survived. Cypher teams up with them as way to make sure that if they want to take Dom down, she'll have more eyes on him and his family, leaving no way out for him. In fact, when things start getting real, and one of the characters gets captured and they ask, "What is this?", then all these villains come out and Cypher says, "The race is over.".
