It's good that he flinches still from time to time. I've worked in a petshop for 10 years, and flinching, and reflexes has saved me a bite on the hand way more times than I can count. Getting desensitized and comfortable is what gets you bit.

You're actually filming things no one has ever seen at those speeds before, which is both educational and highly entertaining. But we also have built-in reflexes to different things; you reflex differently from a hot stove than from a jump-scare. However, over the period of thousands of years, the people who reacted the strongest to humans' predators would survive and reproduce. So it makes sense that we have specific reflexes to predators like snakes, eagles, and big cats, because they were always around us. The reflexes we have to these predators are nearly impossible to learn to overcome. You can train yourself to not flinch when someone slaps you, but you'll find that it is much, much harder to not flinch from a snake strike.
