@KevBinge5 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Sure, are you having to do that once the volume is in there or before it’s in there? Volume settings like density can really dim the power of lighting. The settings there may be affecting your light, but if you are getting a nice result the power you use doesn’t really matter 😀

instead of copy your image texture node and mapping node and texture cordinate note over and over again you know you can just drag another line right? For example if you have all these nodes connected to the Color Input in principled shader you can just connect it to roughness too without duplicating the nodes...
@KevBinge5 жыл бұрын
Yes, I know. I can’t remember why I did it that way in that particular video but it might have that I was planning on using separate mapping values. In lots of other tutorials I do it the way you’ve described lol. Thanks though, you e added value.

why you use a default color ramp on the exit of the noise texture instead of using de fac?
@KevBinge5 жыл бұрын
No other reason than it worked for what I needed at the moment. If I were to go back in and optimize, I could swap it out. There are always more efficient ways to do things once you create them and get something working. Does that help?
@blender_wiki5 жыл бұрын
@@KevBinge I see, I am so used to connect the fac than I thought you had a hidden reason. 😉
@KevBinge5 жыл бұрын
Over the years I’ve learned to plan as best as I can up front (work smart), but then just get something working, and then, if need be, optimize later once you know you can get the shot out. I know I need to tweak things if the render time will take too long, etc...

Do you know what you would need to do to take this into unreal engine with the displacement and materials?
@KevBinge5 жыл бұрын
You could bake out the texture maps and normal maps. The displacement might choke UE4, depending on scale, etc. The geometry is simple and should port over nicely. The lights should go as well. I haven’t tried Alembic, but I’d relight this in UE anyway.
