I am pretty sure water or liquids become painful to drain rather the afriad of water. Thats what causes the foaming. The infected is trying to swallow their own saliva but it is painful.

This is truly the darkest sonic timeline:sonic coming in contact with a rabid animal due to his concern in checking if it’s ok (due to not being familiar with the rabies disease) and believing the animal is simply injured in a way that can’t be easily seen trying to pick it up and the animal started to spasming and it causing sonic to lose his grip on it and it Nicking him on the neck before running off leaving sonic confused to what happened and if he did something wrong when trying to help the critter and due to how rabies incubation works not noticing something is wrong until it’s *too late* because once the symptoms fully manifest rabies is 100% fatal

I have my fanmade lore which i will tell now: It was a normal day , sonic was breaking badniks until one of them realeased a strange-acting animal , this caught sonic's curiosity so he went near him , bad idea that ended with him being bited , he grabbed the animal and threw him into the occean but nothing could stop that infection ,one day he fully sucumbed to it and knuckles was near , which lead to the red echidna's death. Sonic or well , what was left of him started to eat any animal he saw and sometimes even human , but thankfully not eggman , our not-so-lucky fox saw sonic and waved at him but he heard munching and when sonic turned around tails got petrified, and that's how we got at this point, now the question is will he live or will he die and what will happen to robotnik? Only time will tell. Btw sorry for this being so long i'm just creative

I know this is to do with rabies, but this sorta reminds me of The Sonic Files, because in that, Sonic essentially goes the Starved Eggman route, eating Mobians.
