I MEAN... THIS IS HARD!!
It takes a lot of practice and a lot of patience and Work to get down.
But lets keep it managable;
When people start to Double or Doodle tongue ( I can't Double Tongue, it sounds like I'm drowning ha ha) they ONLY doodle and, for me, it looses the 3 dimensional shape of the lines with no accents or punctuation.
I find that one should attempt to alternate between the 2 and therefore keeping the phrases punchy.
EASIER SAID THAN DONE.
If i punch the accents with my single tongue then that seems to kick my doodle tongue into gear and helps the line stay alive.
We have to coordinate with the slide and I would suggest being really aggressive inside your mouth when Doodle tonguing, try and get it sounding strong and locked into the groove.
Take a small phrase, across the partials ( to start with) this will help... then work it round and around so your tongue is behaving.
Then, do it in a different key. Down a Semi-Tone ( maybe the positions are the same just one down) again this can help. Now we are starting to build up phrases and more notes whilst still using the same tonguing.
I would then play a single tongued phrase, leading into the doodle tongued phrase and then back to a single tongued phrase. We are getting used to intergrating this new tongue into our playing and swapping the technique as we wish.
ALSO.. this might sound strange.. but for once, don't start slowly and build it up. I find it easier to doodle faster rather than slower. so find where its comfortable in your mouth and try and get the small phrase sounding good then slow it down/speed it up.
I think there is a hard tempo right between a fast single tongue and a slow double/doodle tongue that neither sounds very good. We should practice this as well ( OBVS)
