It's worth to mention that Total Commander has an option to batch rename from text file as well ;)

awesome! thanks for this. saved me from manually renaming 253 episodes of a tv show that just had numerical file names after ripping from a dvd so i can watch on my phone. now it shows "title of show.s01e01.title of episode.mp4" instead of 001.mp4

Because my audience may not know DOS commands like we do. Also, when working in a law firm the IT team often hides the command line from users.

Thanks for the video tutorial! I got some coding skills and it would be easier to use Notepad++ and just copy and paste tab deliminated columns. With Notepad++ we can do a lot of tricks like sorting or multiline text editing and adding incremented number under column editing. I will be honest, I didn't watch the full video. I watched part of the start but, later skipped to the part at about 8:00 minutes into the video where you show the completed import file and do the renaming. I did what you said adding the pipe bar to separate the old filename from the new and I did make a mistake, I didn't add the extension name part so, it renamed my .vob video files that I was renaming to just .file (general extension name)...haha! I thought something was wrong with the last program that I just tried out earlier today and now I see my mistake of not adding the extension after trying out the bulkrenameutility. When I first opened the program, it was dauting but, thanks to you giving us tutorial, you made it easier to find what I needed to do. I appreciate you making this video for us to watch and helping us out. I will using bulkrenameutitly from now on. It's only a suggestion but, maybe add some chapters to your video here in the description.

@@AmyBowserRollins you are Welcome! Your videos tips helped me out so much and I would of never found bulk renamer or learned how to you use it without you! Thank you! I posted that message so long ago and I couldn't figure out what I was talking about when I just read now what I posted there. I also haven't used my Notepad++ in many months so, I just refreshed my brain a bit with it. I'd like to clear this up a little. In Notepad++ go to settings>preference>editing and check the box for Enable Multi-Editing and Enable Current line highlighting. You then can go to the start of the bottom line of a .csv or whatever type of text file you load into Notepad ++ and hold the alt key + left click and go up the first row and type multiple rows of the same word if you want or select edit and click on Column Editor then select Number to insert then start with the inital number 1 and increase by 1...checking the checkbox for leading zeroes if you want the first nine starting with 01, 02, 03, 04 and so on. Here's some quick tips on that from the official Notepad++ Website. npp-user-manual.org/docs/editing/ They are easy quick helpful tips there. They save a lot of time too. Cheers!
