Waaau I like your videos#explanation is very clear, now can you do me a video on how to join a broken fiber optic cable and even how to terminate another line on the existing cable, kindly.

Unfortunately, our fiber optic cable is factory-terminated so we cannot risk damaging it. Terminating and connecting two fiber optic cables involves carefully preparing the cable ends, and splicing or connecting them. Here's a general idea of how to do so: Cut the cable cleanly using a fiber cleaver and strip off the protective coating from the cable ends. Clean the exposed fiber ends using isopropyl alcohol and lint-free wipes to remove dirt or debris. Fusion Splicing: If splicing, align the fiber cores of the two cables and place them in a fusion splicer. After splicing, protect the splice point by covering it with a heat shrink sleeve and applying heat to shrink it into place. Connectors: If terminating with connectors, Apply epoxy to the prepared fiber end and insert it into a fiber optic connector. You can refer to this video on how to attach the connector to the fiber: kzbin.info/www/bejne/narLh4eda8x4aJI After termination, you can join the cables using a coupler. www.fastcabling.com/product-category/pre-made-fiber-cable/fiber-accessories/

For a simple connection like this, how do I troubleshoot or perform fault-finding?? Any link pls

Sorry to disappoint you, we've never done a video on this topic. But here are some suggestions you might find useful: You can use a power meter and light source to test for signal loss in the fiber. An OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) can provide a graphical representation of the fiber link and help identify breaks, bends, and defects along the fiber length. It can also show splice losses and connector losses. Software tools can help monitor the network's performance and pinpoint issues like packet loss or high latency. Switch Diagnostics: Many switches offer built-in diagnostic tools that can help identify problems with fiber ports or the overall health of the switch.

What's a fiber termination box and why would I need one?
@Fastcabling
@Fastcabling Жыл бұрын
The fiber termination box is where you terminated and manage incoming and outgoing fibers. It's designed to protect delicate optical fibers from environmental factors such as dust, moisture, and physical damage. Fiber termination boxes often include fiber management trays, splice holders, and cable management options to ensure that the fibers are neatly organized and protected.

Fiber optic cables have excellent insulating properties. Differences in potential between the beginning and the end are not a problem.

Fiber optic cables do indeed have excellent insulating properties, and they are typically not affected by electrical interference, EMI/RFI, and environmental factors but it's important to note that they cannot carry electricity. To power the edge PoE devices, it's a must to deploy an outdoor PoE switch to withstand various weather conditions, including rain, snow, extreme temperatures, and humidity.
