At the first location, if u go left instead of right - after you run past the soldiers, there should be some dead corpses sitting on seats. There you can get one smithing stone too.

My weapon wouldn't do enough damage against margit, I beat him in 2 attempts after getting these and upgrading my sword. Thanks dude!

I brute forced margit with a base long sword. It took me like 12 tries and I was only doing 50-60 damage a swing, but I did it dammit. I certainly don’t look forward to turning the whole game into the zerolenny experience though

It's insane how rare the first stones are. I was literally walking around with 1 stone and 10 of the future two. Just for all of them to be found in one location.

It seems the miners can also drop them rarely. Along with pickaxes. I farmed the one just down the tunnel from the lantern for a bit but only got 1.

AYE there is a Giant blacksmith named Iji who sells all the tiers of the smithing stones. Only thing I will say is to follow the quest line north(past godrick) and you won’t be able to miss him. I also will say to look up the current best rune farming method to get the souls for it(it’s the best one rn and I don’t feel like explaining it here) But yeah just in case anyone was wondering if anyone sold it, they do🤣. But it’s gonna take you some hours to get there if you are low lvl or just starting which isn’t a bad thing at all
