The aggression meter. It fills up by doing combos and special moves, then once filled it gives you a 10% damage boost to all attacks for a few seconds.

Would it technically be faster to take a hit of chip damage (whichever is quickest) to avoid the 'flawless victory' text at the end of a round?? I'm not suggesting it would be humanly viable to go for, just wondering if it would theoretically be optimal.

This is correct! However, you are wrong about it not being humanly viable, because I have been doing exactly that in the majority of these fights. There are some exceptions and some situations where it is too risky to go for, but most of these fights in this run I successfully and intentionally took a single hit to save time. Some of these manips you can see if you look closely - Against sub-zero in round 2 - open jumping without kicking forces the AI to jump kick you. Against mileena in round 1 - when i jump back and do a net, if you look closely i press kick just before hitting the ground. This forces the AI to do a projectile which we trade - i take damage and the AI gets captured by the net - 2 birds with one stone. Against Sindel, I perform what we call the "kara punch" .. punching the opponent but negating it into a crouching block - which is then followed up by a leap over the opponent - causing her to leap over me. We call that entire strat the Kara leap. Also Against Goro, simply pushing him to the corner and blocking.

There are also a few situations where I merely take damage as a result of a mistake or RNG, and I simply proceed the fight without having to worry about it, its almost like having 1 free mistake in each fight

This is the PC version. It plays almost identically to the PSX/Saturn versions except that it runs at 63 FPS instead of 60 FPS and it has no loading times due to all of the data being on a computer HDD instead of a CD. You can purchase this version digitally from gog.com and it is the same version used in this speedrun.

@@rollingbecks7047 That's because you got it from Abandonware site which removes the music. You can get an abandonware version with music but you need the ISO file specifically because the music was CD-Audio format (which means it was embedded into the CD, like a music CD). Then you need to mount it in a very specific way to get it to recognize the audio tracks for the music. The GOG version already has it fixed so that it works 100%.
