Nice train; bathroom bigger than I expected. Thanks for showing the architecture of the station!

Just came here from the Florida videos. This is a throwback and coincidence. Grew up in New Haven, live down in Palm Beach County, went to university in Boston. Each of your videos are a little journey through the major places I've lived. Hope to see this channel grow, dude.

When you look at what high speed rail is in other parts of the world, the Acela train is a little bit of an embarrassment.
@gigizurpos96782 жыл бұрын
Huge embarrassment. China Is not even building railroads no more cause they old. They are doing something that is 3 time faster then it’s trains The magnetic train
@ScottA23452 жыл бұрын
The Acela is really only high speed for a rather small section of the Boston-New York run. It's not the train, but the tracks, that are the limiting factor. Most of the tracks on the route cannot handle the high speed the Acela is capable of. But when it is able to run at high speed, the difference is noticeable and impressive (by American train standards).

I ran into that with Amtrak a while back. Seems like there should be signs, "you are currently in business, economy is that way, cafe car is this way" etc. :)

FYI Manhattan is not NYC, Manhattan is a borough and a county, there are 5 counties in NYC Manhattan, Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island. Each borough is it's own county with it's own District Attorney. The population is 9 million or so and the most populous borough is Queens, where Archie Bunker lived.

It may be the fastest in the U.S., but it is hardly something to brag about in a global perspective. Even third -world countries have faster trains they are proud of. This is a sad testament to a country (us) that could have been great, but continues to put politicians into power that do not support, and in fact - fight- spending on transportation, among other infrastructure.

Love the combination of a 21st century (European) train and amazing American seating. The seating on similar trains here in the UK is dire: known as the ironing board design even in 1st class

I did a highh speed train from Milan to Rome and, including stops, it came to about 59 MPH. The Acela apparently did this trip, including stops, at about 43 MPH.

As a Native New Yorker, love your video, however New York City is a lot longer than 7 miles long. Just the island of Manhattan (the island you were on with the majority of the skyscrapers) is 13 miles long.

Roamaloan, what was the average speed though? That train definitely doesn't average 150.
@Roamaloan2 жыл бұрын
Second half was averaging 120.
@neutrino78x2 жыл бұрын
@@Roamaloan interesting. I heard it does get higher speed in certain segments. Does it really take eight hours to go 453 miles? (Washington, DC to Boston.) That's an average speed of only 54 MPH. 😲 If they could get it to average 120 the whole way, without spending 100 billion, that would be nice :)
@zeitgeistx52392 жыл бұрын
@@neutrino78x america has the most expensive construction costs in the world due to federal courts and Congressional legislation allowing anyone to sue you to stop the project. Rich white billionaires typically hate any kind of government spending and will create fake organizations and use straw men to sue your project on their behalf to stop it. White billionaires hate renewable energy and stop $20 million to use farmers to sue stop high power transmission lines in rural Texas.

USA simply doesn't do trains well. Don't let that top speed off 150 mph fool you, very few segments actually achieve that.
