There is really no excuse because this is not the first time Windows is trying to push ARM architecture. Recall AI is a security issue, who wants to draw pics, another review of that drawing feature was pretty crapping on another channel. Do I need live translation when most of the international shows have caption? Am I going to talk to foreigners live often to need the translation feature? Other features like camera tricks for blur and eye tracking already exists. And if battery still not as good as macbooks it leaves very little reason to try Snapdragon X Elite in the current form since ecosystem is already not as good and I was hoping power and battery is going to be much better (WITHOUT plugged in). There is no comparison here. You picked the highest SKU for the Qualcomm chip. 12P cores vs 4P and 4E cores on the Mac. The Mac was only slightly slower, accept one, in the tests it lost which makes since as it takes 3E cores to match 1P core in a mac. So the mac has less than half the P core count and still won all but 3 tests. Sorry the Mac wins hands down... Oh nail in coffin here; as mentioned you put the flagship against the entry level and the entry level came out on top. Glad you mention at the end about another round but don't use the Pro chip do the Max with 40 cores. The X Elite is not bad at all. In some tests it got much more favorable results, so it seems to be a matter of optimization for the other tests where the M3 got better results. As for battery, let's take into account that the Book 4 Edge has a slightly smaller battery, so the results are not as exaggerated as they want to make it seem, due to optimization and other factors it could even be argued that the X Elite is more efficient because it actually did more work. Considering all the factors in favor of Apple such as OS, unified RAM, soldered SSD, application optimization, ARM experience, and a long etcetera, in my opinion (and although Apple got more favorable results in most tests) Qualcomm won this time.

@marcelinoverazanidesouza6 ай бұрын
This maybe is the first batch. When Apple launched M1, the Pro and the Max were announced 1 year later and the Ultra 2 years later. Although the X Elite is below the promised, it's a good start. And the agreement with Microsoft finishes this year, so another companies may enter the game of ARM SoCs for Windows, too (rumors of AMD, nVidia, Mediatek and Samsung are willing to). Jensen Huang, Nvidia CEO, already gave clues about nVidia intentions when he was with Michael Dell and asked by Bloomberg.
@weekendintokyo6 ай бұрын
It's their first generation of this kind of product and CPU power of the X Elite matches the m4 (around 15k in geekbench) in multi core performance, and single core is only 7% slower (geekbench 2.8k vs 3k). The NPU is top notch and we'll see if it's actually useful and programs start using it (like davinci resolve using it for tracking or noise reduction). Yeah the GPU is kinda just alright and Apple has the lead there, I expected more too, but as said this is very good for a first Generation product. It's good for us in the End as the end consumer we profit from more competition. Apple dropped the m4 only 6 months after m3 announcement because they were scared of the X Elite and it's multicore perfomance.

Unplug testing for performence? Laptops most of the time used as plugin. You did not setup XElite to max performence. You set "Power mode" to "Best performence". If you want to have max performence you have to set "Power plan" to max

Trust me, I used every method to get the best performance. 1. Battery settings to best performance 2. Power plan settings in the Samsung Settings app to high performance 3. I ran Alex Ziskind’s PowerShell script to force Ultimare Performance mode on. The point of the X Elite chip is battery life so all tests must be done on battery power, especially since the #1 goal of this comparison was to see the battery life at the end.. which I did.

People don't understand how battery life works. If you constantly pull 30w, the battery life will be the same on any type of CPU. What makes M chips last longer is the idle power usage. Because once you finished doing your task, the faster chip will do it in less time so it will not pull 30w for as long, but then it goes into idle state and this is where the magic happens. If you pull 2w idle and the opponent pulls 3w, you have a 33% advantage. In the long run it is gigantic. What i want in reviews is the battery drain. From that you can do the math on any battery size to know the aproximate battery life. For example, 6w drain on a 60wh battery means 10h battery life.
