Dr. Naik cites a hadith saying that during Ramadan, the devils are chained. I take this to mean that it is easier to resist temptation during Ramadan. This raises several problems. 1. If Allah is willing to chain the devils during one month of the year to make it easier to resist temptation, why not on all months of the year? Wouldn't this make it easier to go to Jannah? Isn't that what Allah wants? 2. If the devils are really chained, why is it that so much evil happens during Ramadan? Dr. Naik believes that this is because there are those who still want to be tempted who "come close" to the devils, so to speak, but this means that there's an impulse within us to be tempted, to sin, which suggests that some of us, even many of us, don't need demonic temptation to sin. How does this fit with the Islamic idea of fitna, that everyone is at heart a good Muslim?
