What a wonderful insight. I've always been a huge fan of how Matt went rallying and used to love listening to him the Absolute Rally Podcast (until Tony took his train set home 😂). He's a genius behind the wheel, the records, the speed, the wins prove that, but he has also had to put deals together from everywhere. Plenty of good men would have given up a long time ago. I've been going to watch Irish rallying since the late eighties, and without question, this is the best Irish Tarmac Championship I've ever witnessed. The pace that Matt, Keith and Callum in particular are running is simply different class, many is the day this year that I've said "how" when they passed me, cameras just don't do justice to the speed these champions are at. For a layman, it defies belief to watch them on the fast stuff sometimes. Now, for this weekend, I'm torn, Keith is a local man to me, so I'm pulling for him, but then i find it nearly impossible not to root for Callum, a pure gent, and finally we have Matt, we would adopt the man in Ireland if we could, so after all that, I'll be delighted for whoever wins. Us spectators are winning just watching these men do things with cars that we can only imagine. What a time to be a rally fan in Ireland. Three unmarked cars at the finish line after a great battle, that's what we really really want. Best of luck to all.👏

Unfortunate for you matt you were showing how to drive that car to the limits but it just shows you how rallying goes and how the rally isint over till its over wish you the best of luck this weekend matt👍

These last 3 months have shown me how cruel rallying is. In june you were going to win the rally. Entering the event everyone was talking about how Sam, Callum, Meiron and Keith were the ones to look out for the victory. I was confused, I was like "but what about Matt". You showed the world why you in my opinion are one of the best tarmac rally drivers in the world that's not in the WRC. In July Martin Sesks was going to get a poudim on his home rally but one the FINAL stage his driveshaft broke costing him a dream home poudim. Last week Kalle Rovanpera who was looking to finally take his home Victory crashed due to a rock he couldn’t avoid. I hope you can win the Irish Tarmac Championship this year and hopefully both Donegal and the Championship next year. I don't know how you handled that so calmy. I would have been in tears for days. Gl Matt on the rest of the year.

Fascinating perspective from the drivers side of the whole Donegal Int Rally experience. What stood out for me is the preparation and detail involved nowadays into a rally especially as it’s well regarded as ‘the big one’ here in Ireland. I hope over the Ulster and Cork 20, the run of the green will swing your way. Best of luck.

A great video to watch Matt, I worked with Mr Airikkala at his left foot braking school, he asked me if I wanted to be fast, or lucky? Of course I replied “fast”, wrong answer he said “lucky always wins” with a wink in his eye! Winning comes down to hard work and preparation and you’ve got that covered bud. Thank you for your input at Phil Prices, it’s moved the car forwards.😊
