A word from Nox (because KZbin kept flagging it when he said it): Thank you for mentioning LegacyShockwave. I have started this project for the archival's sake as a hobby, for free, all web games downloadable from inside your browser and playable even offline! If you want to play some Burnin' Rubber mods you can head out to the Burnin' Rubber Mod Hub, available through LegacyShockwave. NOTE: For the ones wondering about the disclaimer at the end of the video, the LeagcyShockwave Discord server has a semi-anarchy policy and it's not as moderated as your run-of-the-mill server. this game is the real banger back then i legit found out about these games starting with 3 when i was 4 years old and that i just looked up web games to play, and somehow i completed them at that time. 5 felt like a triple a game back then, it was heavily content riddled, wide car selection, and had a lot of fun with putting my team of military boss vehicles in the garage just to see them constantly explode because of how much they've been clipping onto each other glad to see someone big has covered it!

Your story with these games is almost the exact same as mine, what a nostalgia trip! Family not having a lot of money, time period, the XP computer, all the websites, the "introduction game" to the BR series... Honestly I thought that nobody would ever remember these games, let alone make a video on them. I spent so many hours on these flash game websites that even my 2000+ hours now in some games would probably pale in comparison.

I used to play Traffic Slam all of the time as a child. And yes I mean the original. I have no idea where it is anymore and I really wish I could play it again. That was one addicting game to play.. I also played Burning Rubber 3 so so SOO MUCH! However, there was one game I played, and I loved this game, and I was crushed to find it was no longer available. The game was called Carbon Combat. It was a multiplayer, shooter, driving game. Where you take a car that can fly (with a similar animation to what you would see in Back to the Future Pt.2) and with a gun on the top of the car. It had TDM, CTF, DM, and likely other gamemodes too. I loved that game and honestly wish I could play it again.

Despite owning an Xbox 360 and a copy of Forza Motorsport 3 at the time, I don't think it's a stretch to say I spent more time playing the Burnin' Rubber games, on my low spec laptop at the time. I think a part of that, is because I could view the cars as characters, rather than phony licensed cars and I thought guns on cars was cool. The only game I can think of, that provides the same experience (at least to me) is Gas Guzzlers Extreme.

Everything is good, but I wanted to add 2 things when you talked about the web plugins and Shockwave at the start. First is that notable 3D games of the era were on Shockwave, as Unity came way later down the line. And secondly I have no idea how you combined the plugins and the sites owners over the years into one, in which, as I understand, you talked about the plugin, since the site was a seperate thing.
@Fastminer075 ай бұрын
They are separate things, but the Site was originally created by Macromedia and was called ShockRave

@@Fastminer07 I know it was started by Macromedia, but it was weird the way it was put together, because it was still a seperate thing.
