Megan, I thank you for making these videos! I also appreciate your demeanor, & personality! My favorite part, besides finding a cute ‘fat-quarter’ pattern, was watching you quilt. I’ve got to get to the quilting part! I’ve a basket with 13 quilts, or pieced fronts. I’ve straight line quilted two, but have a bunch waiting for my skills to improve. Thanks for the instructions!

Thanks Megan. Love the quilt. Downloaded it and sent in a tip! I bought 16 FQs yesterday. In order to reduce confusion on my part I plan on stacking three at a time and keeping those groupings together. For every stack of three fabrics I'll have three squares. It seems like that's going to leave me with one orphan 16th fabric and not enough fabric for the two other accent colors for a 16th block. Am I missing something?
@TinyOrchardQuilts Жыл бұрын
If I remember right, you'll have groupings of three and one grouping of four colors to swap. Or you can do the entire stack of 16 as one group and just swap the bars/small squares in one giant stack.

I know this is off topic, but what size plastic bags do you use to store your fabric in your carts? I couldn’t tell if they were one gallon, two gallon or larger. They looked a lot bigger than a gallon bag. Especially, for the 2.5 strips. And, I’m using my sons I-Pad. 😁. My name is April. Thank you.
@TinyOrchardQuilts3 жыл бұрын
I have a mix but they are mostly the ikea bags. They are really nice and thick plastic so they last a long time without tearing. I use mostly the 6.5 liter-the biggest ones! Some of the smaller things like crumbs are in gallon size ziplocks.

Are the rulers you used from Quilted Pineapple? And where do you get your pantographs from? I have seen a few that are very linear and I wasn’t a fan, but this one looks amazing!
@TinyOrchardQuilts4 жыл бұрын
They are from the quilted pineapple. I love her rulers because you can use both sides and get the same curve! The pantograph is from urban elementz and it’s called “Gotham”. I was actually using one on a quilt this week and it’s all straight lines and I can’t believe how much harder it is!

Loved the Halloween Quilt. My goodness that did go together quickly, How much fabric for the backing and what kind of batting do you used? Thanks
@TinyOrchardQuilts4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! It really did go together quickly once I really got into the piecing! I used 108" backing for both of them and it took about 2 yards. If you wanted to use regular 42" fabric, you'd need 4 and have a seam down the back :). For the batting, I used warm and natural for the halloween version and then the quilter's dream wool for the solids version--it is so delightfully puffy! :)
@bettshouse1853 жыл бұрын
I went to do this with a Beetlejuice fq bundle I have and realized my pattern is oriented so that the stripes go vertical when the fq is horizontal. So cutting it with the pattern would have my pattern going horizontally and not vertically. Would it work if I scaled the pattern down to get 2 blocks out of each FQ and had 32 blocks instead of 16? Just a thought, I really love this design and want to use it for this!!
@TinyOrchardQuilts3 жыл бұрын
Sure! You can change the dimensions to suit your fabric-you could even make the stripes/square bits different. It’s really just the basic idea and swapping the layers of fabrics that is the heart of the design. :)

@TinyOrchardQuilts4 жыл бұрын
I have a Handi Quilter Simply 16. I like it a lot but I do wish I had bought a machine with a larger throat space. By the time you account for the bars at the back of the machine (the ones the quilt rolls onto), its really closer to 13" than 16". The mechanics and everything is great through! I don't have any problems with tension or those kind of issues I hear a lot of people complain about.

You can stack them into larger stacks whenever necessary. I think I had one stack of 4 since three didn’t go into 16 nicely. For the solid version, I did one stack of 16.

Have you used a double layer of wool batting for dense quilting or just for loser quilting?
@TinyOrchardQuilts4 жыл бұрын
I've used a double layer of batting (one cotton and one wool) once. The quilt looks great but it was quite a hassle to quilt since the quilt was so thick I had to really push down with the rulers. Quilting double batting like that really densely does make it pretty stiff. I haven't ever used double wool though--the quilters dream wool is already quite thick, I don't even know if two layers would easily fit under my longarm needle! :)
