Jimmy, I'd like to thank you publicly for making this video. I'm convinced I'd never have had success because several of the steps you mentioned just aren't anywhere. Your instructions were spot on and I had everything working in about 20 minutes!!

Like others have said, thanks for including the missing info for how to change the settings. Fat shark dropped the ball on their manual. 7 years later and your video is still helping people!

Thank you for the informative video. Just a tip regarding holding down the trainer switch. You can set a different switch on that channel, i.e. change it to one of the toggle switches which you are not using for something else, then you can just manually switch the tracker on and off. Hope this is useful. Cheers.

How do you go about doing this please. I have a DX8 series 1 and I can assign the trainer switch to do other things but can’t find a way of assigning the training mode to another switch.

Thanks Jimmy for posting. Completing an exact set up on a Super Sky Surfer with my DX-8.. Your video saved me lots of headaches.. BTW for other viewers, you can find these pan and tilt set ups at hobby king for $21 plug and play. Just search in FPV section.

I have fatshark trinity HT, which needs 3 aux channels for pan, tilt and roll. Is there an option for three channels setting on your fatshark? (I'm yet to receive my goggle and DX8)
@rich52mag6 жыл бұрын
Hay Jim how did you know you had to use a mono plug. I have a Fatshark Trinity head tracker that I'm trying to use with my Hitec Flash 8 that also uses a stereo plug. Can't get it to work. I'm a little afraid to use the mono plug. Might cause a short in the transmitter.

Can this be used with 5ch to 7ch? Is an 8ch radio reeded for full movement?
@RedDevilSquadron10 жыл бұрын
Good walk through. A couple questions. So that's all it takes, switching the two channels in the trainer mode set-up, and it works? Does it really need that mono adapter?
@jsnyder102510 жыл бұрын
I found it does. I havent tried it without the mono since i set it up. Maybe Ill try it and comment again.
@RedDevilSquadron10 жыл бұрын
Jimmy Snyder Well I got it and did everything you did but I keep finding things are getting jumbled around, it will switch to roll for left to right and then I lose tilt, and the worst part is that the camera is centered when I click on the buddy box button, but once I lift it to turn it off, the camera points to the side. How do I fix this? Really flustered. Paid the extra to get the head tracking and it seems to be pretty poorly set up...or it could just be me...
@jsnyder102510 жыл бұрын
***** Let me look into your problem. I think I had this camera issue as well. I will check that. I understand your frustration. You have Dx8?
@RedDevilSquadron10 жыл бұрын
Jimmy Snyder Well after some working I got it all figured out, finally. I am using a DX18QQ which isn't an "official" working radio for it, but it "unofficially" does work. After some tinkering, I got the head tracking to work and got the servos all centered up. The thing that sucks about the head tracking is that you can't have control of the plane and use head tracking at the same time...unless you can?
@MID_LyFe_Gamer9 жыл бұрын
***** Can you please tell me how you fixed the problem of your camera pointing to the side? Min points to the left when I release the trainer button. When I press the button it centers and begins to work.

Is that satellite receiver any good What is the range like + v. Useful video
@Iceman700Y10 жыл бұрын
Do you really HAVE to have the 8 channel receiver? I want to set it up with a 200QX and I don't know what receiver it uses. Also, what camera is that?
@jsnyder102510 жыл бұрын
I do think so, offhand. I just happened to have an 8ch. You have to have whatever your aircraft needs plus 2 for the head tracker obviously lol. and the camera is the 600TVL i believe. Thanks!
@Stizo777710 жыл бұрын
Sorry it is a DX18 the guy is using. He also has a good video but totally rewired his stereo jack and swapped it for a mono, but you did it the easy way and bought a plug so you have both! Bravo! Also, for you guys that want a head tracking cord for your Fat Shark or SkyZone goggles which you want to connect to an EzUHF Tx…. your cord will need to have an S-video plug on both ends which I believe was included with my SkyZone Goggles. Now all we need is a video which includes all of this info together in one video. KZbin is awesome. Everybody can contribute. Knowledge is power!

Thank you! I followed the links on the fatshark web site. But just google "pan tilt fpv mount", that will get u in the right direction. I forgot where I got it from haha. Good luck!!

Thanks for the reply! I´ll do that jimmy
@jsnyder102510 жыл бұрын
Pedro Cano Also, If you are somewhat familiar with how servos work and have a little DIY in you and/or extra servos at home. You could make a mount relatively easily. Sometimes its easier to spend the $40 or so and call it a day tho lol
@pedrocano485710 жыл бұрын
Thanks Jimmy, i really appreciate the time you have spent in sharing this info. probably i´ll do the test in making my own mount of servos, if it doesn´t work i´ll buy it. Thanks again and keep it up!.

Did you ever work out the switch problem please?
@indikailleperuma9 жыл бұрын
very good video... I just did the exact steps and it worked without any trouble. I have a question. when comparing the PPM signal which is coming from the goggles is almost double the PPM singal the specktrum sends out (when the radio is OFF. when the radio is ON it accept a PPM singal and when the radio is OFF it transmit a PPM signal) So do we need to put a resister between the goggles and the transmitter? As the PPM signal is a digital signal there should not be an effect for the information the signal carry even the voltage is dropped via a resister. guys please advice.. Im sure no body want to burn the spectrum... My worry is that if the spectrum can transmit a low voltage signal PPM signal shouldn't it also accept a similar voltage input PPM signal.. (not double) In theory spectrum expect the PPM port to work with another spectrum radio. As all the spectrum radios have the same PPM voltage they wont harm one another... I'm using a dominator with trinity head tracker, dx7s

I can't seem to get help anywhere on the subject:-( I have a dx7s which is basically the dx8 I have the same trainer page and settings minus the 3rd aux. I have set this up at least 50 times now and every single time my radio says "warning no slave" and the tracking will not work. If anyone knows how to help or could walk me through the transmitter side of things or something that would be great. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong here.

***** I am not using my trainer for head tracking but the same should apply with head tracking as it does with a normal trainer setup. On my dx6 under the trainer menu I'm able to to set the trainer on any of the switches on the transmitter. I have had other transmitters that had a "preassigned" trainer switch that it would only work when that switch is in the trainer position and most times they are spring loaded. The only ways I know to get around this is to ether add a external mechanism to hold the switch in the trainer position or to replace the momentary/springloaded switch with a standard toggle switch. You can assign the trainer switch on most modern transmitters so you want to make shore that you can't before you dig into one of your transmitters. .

How can I do this? I selected gear for the trainer in the switch select option but I can make it work from there.
@rossmcdonnell17965 жыл бұрын
@@SkymotionColombia If you are still wondering the switch setup says Trainer and gives options. This means the trainer switch can be set up to do "Inh, Gear, aux1, aux2 or aux3". Why you would want the push button switch to do gear I don't know.
