After reading the comments and reading the little context by Raf and Muicca on this collection from vogue, it is fair to say they are both true and the humor is in the framing. I think it is important to remember that runway shows are proposals for how people should dress or think about clothing. This is a proposal to rethink ‘outgrowing’ of clothes. Is it because they are ugly or because they don’t fit or more like they don’t fit with societal norms? We have a combination of oversized and undersized items because they are proposing how we should look at all types of hand-me downs. So yes 90% can be replicated in the thrift store and the moment you go and replicate this, the moment you have bought into their proposal. You don’t have to buy the prada clothes. You might if you like the colors, prints etc. Another comment on sweaters and Jackets are proposed in the summer. 1.) These ‘wool’ sweaters are likely made of cotton - there is an illusion for you. Also if you pay attention to the fact that the sleeves are shorter, these actually allow to be breathability - reframing the reusability of an outgrown jacket - it just merely shifted from a fall wear to a summer wear. And yes it doesn’t deter that this could also be a business decision (less fabric) etc but I think they had fun with it - probably didn’t overthink the collection and with that they might have given us something new here.

Well said! Folks were cutting up their skirts to buy into the Miu Miu look a few seasons ago. Also, if you look at a lot of their previous collections, this relatively minimal look has always been part of the Prada DNA

NOBODY and I mean NOBODY ever said RAF’s aesthetic was good. I can fully appreciate cutting outside normal aesthetics, like or example say…..Rick Owen’s or Sweater “dresses” for Men at Bottega. But what makes Prada so desirable is clothes and shoes that PEOPLE WANT TO WEAR. Those arch free shoes are lost in this mess, as are any of crisp lines Prada is known for. Sure, he may be giving us “something new here” but he should have left it in his mind, not wasted the attelier’s time making this garbage NOBODY wants to buy. I can guarantee NONE of this will be come signature pieces from Prada. That was Miucccia’s genius…she understood waht people wanted, and how they wanted to accessorize. This mess seems like he ran out of ideas, locked himself in a room with some clothes, some scicssors, a steamer and an iron. Most of it is unwearable at the price point its likely to be priced at.

A perpetual conundrum of mine is why designers, especially high-end (outrageously expensive) don't cast models who represent the idealized customer. Unless odd-looking emaciated models are who their customers are (can't imagine where they're getting the money from). Could you imagine any of those models being cast with Armani? I'm guessing those brands know what they're doing--I'm a photographer, and I'm pretty good at casting to get results... just saying. I have to stop the clip to appreciate the garments because it takes too long for me to recoup from the shock factor of the models' appearance.
