Is the rear swingarm a bolt on or was it fabricated? If it's a bolt on, where did you get it?

Gutsy move though, a lot of people would have killed to have the bike the way it was. It's going to be very interesting how it turns out. It would be cool to do a pic side by side comparison, bet their won't be anything recognizable

My wife’s first bike was a V-Star 650, a 2001. We bought it new when she took the motorcycle course. In 2007 she bought a Harley Deluxe, but we kept the V-Star. My daughter and my son-in-law both learned to ride on it, but now, both have their own motorcycles. I had been thinking about selling it even though I have a sentimental attachment to it. I am just retired with time on my hands. I think that I will try to turn the 650 into a bobber. Since you don’t know me, you have no idea just how non mechanical I am as a person. This would be similar to a guy volunteering to land the jet because he has played with a flight simulator. Nothing ventured, nothing gained is now my motto. Thank you for inspiring me.

14:45 MP. Nothing stripped out in that fork leg. The dampening rod was just spinning with the retaining bolt. You didn't need to drill it out and risk damaging the fork lower. The proper way to deal with that situation is to get a retaining tool that you insert from the top of the fork to hold the dampening rod still. Alternately, you could have put some washers under the fork cap to compress the spring more. Sometimes the extra spring force is enough to hold the dampening rod still.
@MOTOPILOT66 жыл бұрын
Actually the allen head was stripped and my allen wrench was spinning on the bolt. But good advise.

I would have grabbed a stock fat boy off craigslist. And left this custom together, maybe sold it to finance most everything, still lots of chrome lovers out there. Either way, the bobber turned out great, has me combing the want ads for a cheap fat boy.
