So Gilgamesh calls humanity toxic because his summoning is affected by the nature of the people in that era. And since he's always extra rude in. every summon, he blames it all on humanity. But since everyone in seraph is pure data, there's nothing there to affect his personality. So this is how he's originally supposed to be. Well he doesn't seem like a bad person but he's still a tyrant nonetheless.

within Seraph, neither the influence of whatever era he is summoned into (he REALLY doesn't like how humanity acts in atleast the time period of the 4th and 5th grail wars in zero and stay/night respectively) and also isn't probably-corrupted by corrupt evil mud from when Kiritsugu had saber destroy the corrupted holy grail. In short, this makes Archer Gil a bit less of an absolute douchebag

@@gypsysprite4824 I think Gil wasn’t himself in stay/ night because the “chaos tide” (as I believe Romani calls the grail / Tiamat mud) makes him insane. Heavens Feel and Fate/GO Babylonia indicate that the chaos tide tends to corrupt any human or servant that touches it. Saber became the cold and merciless Saber Alter, and Ushiwakamaru turned evil and attacked her allies. It only makes sense that it would have warped Gilgamesh too. Despite that he *said* it didn’t affect him his actions (especially in UBW) indicate otherwise. Gil is a pretentious ass but he’s not evil, which he became in all the versions of stay/ night

@Dimitra P. Dark Sakura also states he couldn't be tainted. It literally took him gaining a living body and exploring the modern era to become what was in stay/night.

@@1999bazz Yeah, it’s pretty clearly stated that he was not corrupted at all. The reason for his behavior has to be found elsewhere. MI would put a part of the blame on then fact that there are ~7 billion people in the modern era, which makes every life less valuable to Gilgamesh. In Babylon, he is very clearly extremely pleased that 300 people survived to the end due to Chaldean interference, as he foresaw only himself surviving up to that point. The fact that there are so little people in the world, and quite a few of those in Uruk, makes those lives valuable. But too many people, and he starts to see them as the scourge the Gods intended him to see. Just my two cents.

@@kaustralishamal2054 Short version for the "How" is that Gil has the same kind of level of clairvoyance as Merlin and Solomon. So while he doesn't innately recall prior summonings, it doesn't really stop him from knowing Fate's Matter of Britain about as well as the veterans of the franchise.

I actually love Hakuno and Gilgamesh's interactions because seeing Haku try to strike a balance between snarking and sucking up is more characterisation than a lot of these kind of characters get. Especially compared to, say, Guda.
