This is just the perfect blend of CGI with hand-drawn animation on the level of ufotable... A-1 is just flexing now xD

I mean, it's no surprise! Kentaro Waki aka the Director of Photography here worked on ufotable's God Eater alongside the one and only ufotable's Head of Photography Yuichi Terao. Waki must be a fast learner because ever since then he has put out high quality work in this style outside of ufotable liek SAO Ordinal Scale and Gundam Thunderbolt. Serious major props to him for bringing in so many visual elements together so cohesively and making the PVs tone so epic in scale alongside Enokido's direction and the numerous talented key animators!

as kapre said...the one of the higher ups at Cloverworks production used to work at ufotable, so it makes sense. Kind of like how the studio who is doing El melloi was founded by the director of ufotable...solution to industry, just get ufotable talent lol
@kapresmoke58695 жыл бұрын
@@MrInuhanyou123 Wait a minute, that's alot of half truths there 1. Waki is not affiliated with ufotable or Cloverworks as far as I know since he went as far as to credit the photography studio he was working on. He is definitely not at all ufotable's talent since iirc he only worked on God Eater, a production that went to shite due to absurdly terrible production schedule courtesy of Bamco. Heck, he hasn't worked on any Cloverworks project at all. 2. Ei Aoki did found Troyca but I feel that his prowess in photography was a product of him being a photography student graduate and his directorial prowess was from alot of places including his citing of Snyder's work in aims of being "cinematically cold". Also personally I think his best work is Hourou Musuko over at AIC Classic. Make no mistake, I'm a ufotable fan above all but I dont want misinformation spreading by glorifying them. The industry is wide with tons of talent and different art philosophies. Ufotable isnt the Silicon Valley of studios. Not to mention it is people that do the good work and they move around, not encased by a studio brand. Fire Force's director was from Shaft but god I did not like anything he made there, only when he left and did Fire Force in David Production then he finally seemed to fully express himself and astound me. In other words, follow staff, not studio brands (though there are more factors to consider as well obviously).

@@kapresmoke5869 Fair enough. I just meant that the techniques ufotable uses has become more common in the industry through different people moving around from there...despite what you may they without a doubt pioneered the combination of post processing in anime projects years before anyone else. I'm not saying they are infallible, but giving them props is important to. And of course i mean the individual people who actually work on the productions, not the company itself. That should go without saying. The creators negatively affected by the business side of things in the recent tax evasion scandal should make that clear
@kapresmoke58695 жыл бұрын
@@MrInuhanyou123 I was just clearing up the half truths like Waki being tied to ufotable and/or Cloverworks and those sorts of things since that gives a lot of false impressions. Tbh I'd still say that studios and certain schools of thought in the industry have their own techniques and aims in sensibility as well as their own technology and practices. Terao's hyper photorealism is just one of many there is. I'd sort of agree to the pioneering of technique if only because my scope of knowledge is limited. As for the tax evasion scandal, I'll just say to wait till the investigation is over. Not only because solidifying rumours as truths before the actual truth is out is dangerous but also because the one and only newspaper reporting it is a sensationalist tabloid with a record for false news. Also Kondo has been a great producer of ufotable, heading each project and making sure there is sufficient resources for the staff as well as managing the business and advertisement portion as well. Heck, Emiya Gohan only came to be because he pushed for it and see how much of a brilliant passion project it is. Granted this doesn't excuse him if the allegations are true but in light of his performance as a producer, I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt. Recent Kimetsu no Yaiba and HF productions are left unaffected by the allegations and investigations so the integrity of creative production is kept.

Btw I have a question and not sure if it's the right place to ask, someone said this work is done by freelancers, is that true?
@kapresmoke58695 жыл бұрын
It would be better to ask Canipa Effect here in youtube or in twitter alongside other the other sakuga peeps who write for the Sakuga Blog. I assume that someone is referring to A1 as the "freelance studio" which imo is kind of a dated thought. Then again I personally dont know each staff on a case by case basis to know to where they are contracted to so here it could be a mix of A1 staff and freelancers. But I'll say, does it matter? These are staff that came together either for love of Fate or their want to work with friends thus resulting to an amazing PV here. Being contracted to a studio doesnt stop some from working for shows of other studios and some spend a lot of their time and work in one studio but arent contracted at all! In other words, appreciate the individual staff and what they bring to the table as well as their want to work on it.

Most of are freelancers but some A-1 animators worked on this too. Ryu Nakayama is a freelancer and he worked on key animation for this 4th anniversary trailer and episodes of FGO Babylonia. Now he is director of Chainsaw Man.
