Cake# Not so sure. I remember reading that Prelati's Spellbook is still a big mystery even to Gilles, so he doesn't know all of its secrets. As far as I remember, him opening an offscreen portal to Cthulhu was the only instance where he sort of "summoned?" (not exactly) an Outer God. (the first kid that he murders in Fate Zero) All those other monsters were his creations. I mean, if they really were Eldritch entities, I doubt a human's magecraft would be capable to harm one, let alone kill it. (Kariya killed one of them with his bugs to protect Rin) If we wanna talk about true Eldritch horrors, the Foreigners and the Salem creatures are what it's best. (though I suppose Hokusai's case is pretty... unique?) XD

It's dissapointing how little being an Old One is present in her dialog. Aside from the ocasional "Ph'nglui, ph'nglui", and appearing to behave a little more... "brash" in like two of her voice lines after she merges with Father in her third ascention, that aspect of her character has no weight on Hokusai's personality at all. And it was deliberate for some reason, because like every single other foreigner has a bunch of those elements in their dialog. Abby is constantly trying to surpress her Old God, until she gets to her final ascention, BB doesnt even hide the fact that she's Nyarlathotep, and Van Gogh goes in harder and harder in the madness department with each ascention. And Hokusai is out here being Cthulhu, the most famous of all lovecraftian horrors, and that's never even brought up.

If I recall correctly Hokusai actively and willingly told his Old One to fuck off because he only wanted to paint (none of this take-over-the-world business) and got turned into an octopus as punishment. It didn't do much though, and both Hokusai and Oi just kinda.... ignore the Old One.

Sort of but not really? "Barbarian" is just the Westernized form of the old-fashioned Japanese term for anyone who's not Japanese/Asian. The Romans had a similar term for anyone who's not Roman (and lo and behold, that term is also translated as "barbarian"!). Since the Katsushika duo comes from a rather old-fashioned time in Japan's history, of course, they'll use some antiquated slang.

Japan during Hokusai's time was pretty much racist. Due to the Shogun's order, they are isolationists who have little contact with foreigners (Westerners, to be exact). As Westerner tend to have ill-manner behaviors (to Japanese standard), so they view them as barbarians.

Comes down to personal taste, the vast majority of players enjoy her ascension 2 because its beautiful and elegant while ascension 3 has some icky things like her father completely taking over her body parasite style.
