I really wanted to make this video 6 minutes and 50 seconds long (the length of Fate Of The Stars) but I ended up having too much to say. It sure would’ve been cool though. Even though this video isn’t the length of your average ‘video essay’, I really do feel like I’ve put in enough effort and time to call it such - I hope you all enjoy my first video essay of what I hope to be many :)

Holy shit. There is nothing else to say about this analysis. I am currently trying to make some analysis type videos on Tally Hall, but haven't found the time, and through that I find it even more impressive of how deep and thorough this analysis is. This song makes me wish Tally Hall made some more just as obscure songs, like Tomorrow and Today, and probably Go To Bed. I can't wait to see more from you!

I personally feel that this song is talking about sleep. When listening to the song under the impression that it is about someone falling asleep, it becomes very interesting. It sounds as though the song is comparing sleep with the idea of death itself, replacing the metaphors for death with metaphors for sleep gives it almost the exact same meaning. That could also explain the whole repeating thing, you sleep everyday of your life and you barely notice it. Personally I agree with you and your explanation behind the lyrics, but I think it is all one big metaphor for sleep. I personally find that more poetic as well, that such beauty and meaning could be found behind something as simple as sleep. Loved the video, keep up the good work!

fate of the stars is genuinely one of my favorite songs ever. it’s so poetic, there’s countless meanings. I personally LOVE the chorus “so the part where we are / trapped in active depart”. In the “it’s about tally hall” interpretation, it’s fitting: they’re on hiatus, they’re not over and they’re not still active. I don’t know if they knew this was going to be the last song they released before going on hiatus when they wrote it, but still. The fact that the song also basically consumed two other songs is really cool. If you can’t tell, I just watched the ruler of everything video. I never realized how much the sun/star symbol appears in tally halls lyrics

So if the protagonist is the son of the sun and the sun is God, then wouldn’t that make the protagonist the “son of God” a title held by Jesus possibly making a connection between the two, or am I just thinking too much.

I did actually script a bit for that, but ended up removing it because I thought people would think I was thinking too much as well… but I totally agree! Plus, the ‘Mind Control, Mind Restart’ is (in a way) not too different from dying and being resurrected, like with Jesus.

I think this is a good time to bring this up: I've noticed a few of the songs in good and evil are connected to "the stars" (namely out in the twilight, the trap and of course this) Also I originally interpret "the fate of the stars" to be inevitable and unknown death because they'll always burn out and die and it'll take a long time before anyone knows though I think the idea still connects to this explanation Lastly i noticed a similarity between "you and me" (a song also referenced in the trap) at the end of it with the sun and sons back and forth relationship Afterthought: 3rd line of & is "shame on a martyr claiming friends from either perspective of &" which sounds like how Jesus is often described edit: I just remembered it was misery fell instead of out in the twilight (though I guess OitT works as well)

I feel that the Sun and Mr Moon represent God and Time, Mr Moon is the one who rebukes Juno in "Ruler of Everything" for the voice sounds simillar, Juno shot at the sun so that is why the moon (aka his galactic partner) decides to trap Juno in a Cycle or kill him like we see in the Ruler of everything videoclip, either that or i'm going insane

I have this theory that Fate of the Stars might have been an early draft of Dream Sweet in Sea Major that was repurposed by Andrew to fit with Good & Evil. There’s quite a few similarities, you know the length of DSiSM is important to be 7 minutes, and FotS is just 9 seconds under. The topic of death and ending of a story is prevalent in both, as well as having an ending that leaves the listener both confused and wanting more. The more you think about the similarities the more I feel it’s got something to it.

I find it fascinating that & and FOTS were written by 2 different people. I wonder who had their idea first and who influenced who in the song writing. Andrew does have very strong imagery and his songs are some of the best to come out of Tally Hall (I particularly love Taken For a Ride). I also only learned very recently that Andrew sings the "Step on to the ferris wheel" part, because I couldn't place his voice (but now it's so obviously him, the way that once you know Rob is singing Time Machine you can't unhear his voice, which is very distinctive, just "disguised" by the vocoding)

I love this theory, especially if you view it as an allegory. The relationship between humans and God can be seen as a relationship between a person and society 🤡. The person wants to have the unbiased view of the world established in Out in the Twilight. Societal pressures forcing them to conform over and over again. The music getting faster each time. Until the end of the song were they stops resisting. They find comfort in what everyone else believes which is why the end of the song is peaceful. They have become complacent.
