The first time I heard the title track, I knew we were expecting something good. An excellent return to form for Josh Tillman.

10 out of 10. An incredible journey with breathtaking flourishes that touch the soul. Lyrics and music from another planet. Yes, it’s an otherworldly magnificent masterpiece on all levels

Great analysis. Agree about the vocals being a bit overshadowed. Great album! (I still love the first three more but those are hard to talk anywhere from anyone) Mental Health has been the most poignant song for me so far. It's insane, literaleh

Good job on the analysis man. This album is an 8.4/10 for me as a staunch FJM fan. A few of these songs made me tear up. I love how FJM made his self feel very real… about as real as ILYHB, PC, GFC, FF. I felt like this was a magnificent dive into his psychological self. I loved it.

I agree so much about Pure Comedy being (personally) bellow GFC. GFC was there for me during the pandemic and Josh never felt so open and compelling. The writing process of that album, the ""palace", the death wish and turbulences of creation, I relate so much on a deeper level, where Comedy felt so big and touching on the outside. They're two different sides of the same guy obviously and are top 3 for me FJM, but I prefer the open Josh

scream land is fantastic and is the best song he's ever written. I really am not a fan of FJM... but took a gander and really enjoy this CD.

Those Genius annotations about She Cleans Up being a MeToo song were all written by one guy with little basis in the lyrics. It's a lot broader than that, and the imagery is less evocative of the patriarchy and more of shit getting out of mankind's hands only to be corrected by some universal feminine.

See, I agree and disagree. I think that angle actually works given some of the more transgressive edges that Tillman is prodding at across this album, especially given the casting couch sleaze of the third verse and those inner masculine "demons" responding on the bridge. I do think it's broader than simply that, but it's not NOT part of it.
