He is the best speaker ever on this topic of alcoholism. Even though he has been gone for a while now, he continues to help me stay motivated on my sober journey. 🙏❤👍

This man was a blessing and may his legacy continue to help/inspire and educate those struggling and their families. Blessed to spend brief time with him and hear him speak. He shared his shortcomings and regrets , his struggles and relapses and I’ve never heard a more selfless, authentic and humble man in my life then or since. He was what all spiritual mentors should strive for…. Honesty, Love and support….. No judgement, except for your desire to understand and to try… Bless the legacy of Father Martin & Mae A Angels ❤

I've been a participating member o this fellowship for 38 years. I will tell you this, I had 27 years of sobriety and relapsed on pain pills after a surgery. It took me 3 years and a lot of shame and guilt to come back into the rooms. I made it back only by God's grace and mercy. I walked back in and it took all I had to raise my hand and identify as a newcomer again, not easy to do but I knew it would save my life. It did and I just celebrated 11 years of sobriety for the 2nd time. How does that happen? I'll tell you. Honesty, open mindedness and willingness with a large serving of humble pie. God saved me twice. I should, by all rights be dead. He saved me so I can help others out of the hell of this disease. We have a purpose We do recover.

I’ve been watching my loved one go through this for 14 damn years and dozens of rehabs. Insanity is right.😢

@debbiethompson14 Relapse is not mandatory, but sometimes it's necessary to get a full knowledge of ones condition...

Once you decide to remain sobber, to avoid relapse I believe you need to trust in God, don't be too overconfident and above all, avoid the first drink.

I love father martin, but I dont agree with pity ! Compassion yes but not pity , it implies a kind of arrogance on the part of the pitier! Because none of us are infallible and easily could slip into relapse I have only learned recently to let to and it for me it works , there sometimes are no answer to the musings and struggling of the human mind !!
