There is only a fraction of American civilians who qualify for military service and that dwindles by the year. Of that fraction, only a fraction go on to qualify to even start training as a military pilot. I am a Navy veteran and can attest to the FACT that women pilots are just as capable as men pilots. They do NOT DEI hire for pilots! There are positions in the military that you either qualify for or you don't and it doesn't matter what sex you are. People are all for thanking veterans on veterans day but then something like this happens and they forget everything and throw them under the bus. That is just sad. Everyone on that Helo signed a blank check for this country and while training for their mission a mistake was made and those checks were cashed. They deserve some respect. Human error is a thing still.

People don't understand how DEI works. ALL candidates must be qualified to do the job. DEI kicks in when, say, you have a large staff of males and need to hire more people. If two EQUAL candidates are a woman and a man, DEI attempts to even out the field a bit by giving it to a woman, WHO IS EQUALLY QUALIFIED. This is to prevent sexism and racism from being a part of the hiring process. Without DEI, you might get more white males who are NOT as qualified as someone with a different skin color or sex.

Elizabeth McCormick said it takes a minimum of four crewmen with two pilots to fly a blackhawk helicopter, one in front and one in the rear. There were only three. One Pilot, one crewman and an observer. If pilots were wearing night goggles, lights would have been confusing. Finally, flying altitude. NOT following policy was at fault.

The pilot in command only had 500 flight hours, spent much of the last two years at the white house instead of building flight time. Regardless of a man or a woman, they didn't respond when spoken to by the air traffic controller. Flying over twice the legal altitude where they were. 100% blame is on the pilot of the black hawk helicopter.

I think he was talking about the Air Traffic Controller was a DEI hire. As we heard him confirm that the Helicopter had a visual of the plane and told to pass behind and acknowledged that. Unfortunately it was a tragic accident, as the Helicopter was actually visually seeing a different plane. For Trump to say what he did was despicable. These are human lives, there are families grieving the loss of these people. We need a leader not a petulant child trying to place blame on anyone but themselves. My heart goes out to all of the families who lost someone much.

Rubbish. He said it may be a factor if the standards were lowered. The fact was the helicopter had a mandated ceiling of 200 feet and it was flying at 395-400 feet. That was the issue plus questionable air traffic control. The DEI comment was a potential factor based on lowering standards. Get your reporting right!

500 hour pilot in command in that environment? Minimum 1500 hours to even get an ATP and sit as a first officer and 5K to be in command. Flying VFR along the Potomac at night with 500 hours? That young pilot must have been a real prodigy, but it seems like a high consequence environment for that kind of flight.

Also many aviation towers weren’t properly staffed due to DEI requirements that excluded many potential employees from being hired. They had to meet DEI quotas. And the crash was so unbelievably preventable that it’s clear either the controller or heli pilot didn’t have proper training or high enough standards.
