"Australia to Tasmania". I love that bit. I never tell friends and family all over the world that I live in Australia, I always say Tasmania, and leave it to them to figure out. Most of them don't even know that it is one of the Ozzie states, and many think that it is a fictitious place anyway. Greetings from Meander.

Just a quick note, the old Dehaviland Beaver is a great plane for getting large loads in and out of hard to reach places and they could easily stay in the air for many hours so the engineers installed a Venturi on the bottom of the fuselage hooked up to a tube with a small funnel at the other end and they called it a “Pilot Relief Tube” so the pilot would not have to land as often just to get relief!

What were the fuel costs for that flight - and what a great adventure, thanks for documenting and sharing. Did a flight from Kununurra to Bankstown in an RV10, and that was an epic three day adventure. Really get to know the aircraft and your own comfort levels!

Hi Tony - RV10 would be a bit quicker! Overall about 15hrs at just under 20l/hour - using mogas at around $2.45 a liter - so around $735! Cheap

@@markbutcher4874 Thanks for the feedback !! That's about 86 MPH. {my mind loves to think in MPH !!} I appreciate your feedback because even though I think the Bush Cat is a great aircraft, I think I'm going with the Pipistrel Alpha Trainer. I've heard lots of reports of the Alpha trainer always getting right at 120 MPH in cruise which would be 34 MPH quicker and I think the 2 classic control sticks of the Alpha Trainer suits me better and it uses a 80 HP Rotax verses the 100 HP Rotax on the Cat. I recently heard on a video Daniella Knoll quoted an out the door Bush Cat price of 113K and that is pretty close to the quoted Alpha Trainer price. I'm really disappointed the Bush Cat price is over a 100K - if the Cat was say 65 or 70K, then the Cat wins. But when the Cat is about the same as the Alpha Trainer, then the Alpha Trainer wins. I mean don't get me wrong, if for somereason the Alpha Trainer sky rockets and the Cat goes down some, then the Cat will win out. But about 2 years ago I heard the Cat going for 85K out the door. The other thing I just found out is the Cat has a 105 MPH Vne where as the AlphaTrainer is 155 MPH Vne. I like to see larger separations of normal IAS verses Vne than smaller ones. Bush Cat Tom from Wisconsin told me that the Vne was moved back from 125 Mph when they redid the tail. But best wishes to you and your Bush Cat !!

so what was the cause of the high oil temp?
@thrusteroz
@thrusteroz Жыл бұрын
Was never high - just the gauges misread when we turned on the AUX (Cig lighter) plugs - Im guessing the voltage drain of running phones/ipad caused the gauges to misread. When we turned off the AUX gauges read perfect - so we havent used the cig lighter since but at least we know when we do - the gauges wont be accurate.
@serverlan763
@serverlan763 Жыл бұрын
@@thrusteroz I fly a Bushcat in Darwin, Use the cigarette plug to charge my phone, we never had issues with the other gauges. The One I fly though only has a small LCD glass system that covers most of the gages including oil temp. It hardly has any analogue gauges and no DI, Id prefer a bunch of analog gages like a Cessna. That's what i'm used to.

@@thrusteroz I don't think that I wouldn't like any music but try and keep the music relevant to the activity and keep to a genre rather than spinning out of control by going from rock to country to opera. Nearly everyone on KZbin these days has music and unfortunately they all think it makes their video better when often it does the exact opposite as it can be very annoying. Keep at it, you can only get better and before uploading do some critical listening and ask yourself if that what you would watch on someone else's video. All the best going forward.
