One thing I try to do whenever I leave the house, no matter what my mood is is to compliment a stranger. A checkout clerk, barista, fellow shopper, nurse. Just say something nice about their appearance. Its a habit I started years ago when I lost my hair in chemo and noticed that people really took the time to say something nice to me and it meant a lot. You can really tell that it means so much to some people to just hear "I love your earrings" or "that sweater is amazing".

The other day, I helped an old lady who was lost get home. She was 20 minutes away from her retirement home and was completely lost. First snowfall of the year, clearly underdressed (she told me she was doing a quick errand and took a wrong turn)... I couldn't just let her walk back after giving directions. I lifted her. It threw my entire gas budget out the window and probably will run out of gas before next payday. I don't care. I'll figure it out, I always do. Knowing this lady got home safe and sound is more important.

My daughter volunteers at a store that benefits people who need clothes and house hold items. When she lived here at Christmas we volunteered at a homeless dinner and then we had Christmas in the afternoon or early evening. She takes my granddaughter as well. She started when she was very young. During the summer we went to a fun city and they had just opened up after being closed. This lady was saying how hard it has been for her and her 2 girls. My granddaughter asked her mom for 20 dollars to give to the lady. Made the lady cry. Shows how if you teach your children to think of others they continue.

Maass family I just want to let you know how much of a better person you have made me! I’m 22 years old and have been watching your vlogs every day for about 2 years. Before coming across your channel I’ve never really had many interactions with the special needs community or with people on the autism spectrum. I’ve learnt so much from your family and am now much more understanding and compassionate person! I’ve especially noticed this growth in public, not being scared of or judgemental to those making noises or with different behaviours to what is ‘typical’. You’ve taught me the value of volunteering and making time to support others and your local community. I now put my hand up to help with volunteering opportunities when they arise, and I aspire to continue to volunteer more. You’re an awesome bunch, and I value the education on special needs I have learnt from you all. Love you all! ❤️🇦🇺 Rachael
