Sometimes as humans we forget that everything we know about reproduction, attraction, femininity, and masculinity is human knowledge. We often project our knowledge onto other species, in religion, in literature, and art, and treat it as true, forgetting that nature is infinite, evolution is, there are millions of possibilities with DNA, almost no limit on size, shape, texture, color, weight, height, or way of communicating. The only requirement in evolution is that a creature can survive its environment, no requirement of how it does.

I understand what you're saying. The seahorses may well die, but and this is critical - it looks like we're partly the cause of it. It's not just one species or even a genus, but scores of species across the planet that are having trouble - this is only one. What bothers me isn't this one group going extinct - it's the glib way we justify it in SO MANY cases.

Male sea horses don’t really “give birth” the female just gives him the eggs :) No hate
@Velvette-e4 жыл бұрын
Lavan Volkov it’s not ignorance, it’s truth. The male does technically ‘give birth’ to the young, but if you don’t mind, from this biology class I had taken, we had done a project. And in that project we got to choose an animal to do an entire essay on. Here is some quoted words from one of the websites, “The male seahorse is equipped with a pouch on the ventral, or front-facing, side of the tail. When mating, the female seahorse deposits up to 1,500 eggs in the male's pouch. The male carries the eggs for 9 to 45 days until the seahorses emerge fully developed, but very small.” They do not lay the eggs. It’s just the truth. Oh and another thing, if you need here is the definition of ignorance, “lack of knowledge or information”. Please go through 7th grade before you try to one-up someone you don’t know anything about. (And only use words you actually know the definition of as-well :)
@Velvette-e3 жыл бұрын
@Ben Shapiro Once the eggs have fully developed inside the males pouch, they then slowly come out. It’s not rocket science. The female lays the eggs inside the male for him to fertilise them. Like frogs for another animal example, the female lays eggs somewhere and then a male frog comes around and gives them sperm so that they can grow into tadpoles. Unless this was a species in which there is only ‘one’ gender, (which it isn’t) then the process of fertilisation would be a little different. But it has its two sides even though animals technically ‘don’t’ have genders. Hope this helps. :D

I really wonder why seahorse looks like that. Is it another branch in evolution where horses used to be marine mammals? You know, just like in the game SPORE. You create your creature that is supposed to live in water and some time after, it will migrate off the water and to the dry soils. Do you think that that is possible?
@valeriebanks88773 жыл бұрын
Wow I thought they were huge creatures . That’s why people don’t think they are real because biologist exaggerate their size . They are figure size .
@Saruzu15 жыл бұрын
It's not actual birth, as the eggs are only located inside a pouch on the male seahorse.

it comes down to this. everyone has their own little opinions on everything, your opinion on this is unfortunate, but i'm not gonna try and change it. but what i think you fail to realize is, that, everything, no matter what size, everything in the animal kingdom plays a role to something else. if you knock off some species its bound to affect another species maybe even kill it off. It's not survival of the fittest, its human error that fucks shit up.

@Chris-fr3kp2 жыл бұрын
No male Seahorse is actually male! Males are made to make babies with Females. Even Viruses make babies or let's sY copies of themselves
@fallen5983 Жыл бұрын
its been a year so maybe you know now, but thats not how it works. gender is determined by a number of things, one of them being sperm and eggs. males still have sperm, and females still have eggs. seahorse reproduction is basically the opposite of how we do it, instead of the male depositing sperm into the female, the female deposits eggs into the male. the eggs are then fertilized and develop from there
