Looks like you had a great shave Paul. I agree with your evaluation of the Fatip razor. It's about as aggressive as the R41, but more comfortable to use.

There are two versions of this razor. The old Piccolo MK1 with a 18mm top plate and the new MK2 with a 19mm top plate and a Fatip Logo on the base plate. The MK2 is less aggressive. I couldn't use the MK1 while I found the MK2 to be a great and semi mild razor, given some practice and using the right angle, for long lasting shaves.

for me i find Nivea shaving balm the best , but a little goes along way . I found i put too much on my hand when pouring - shame they don't make a drip type dispenser .

I had found a grapefruit scented aftershave at the grocery store and was looking for a matching soap. The soap that matched it was supposed to be an african black soap that you lather with your fingertips and rub into your skin. I tried furiously mainy times with every type of brush to get a lather and couldn't. I found Catie's Bubbles makes a Grapefruit scent and ordered that a month back because I've heard nothing but great reviews of his soaps. It's an amazing scent just as your TOBS is. Lathers amazing and provided a great shave. It's funny how it's a great scent but I absolutely hate to eat grape fruits. Another great video Paul, keep the videos coming buddy!

Well, the grapefruit arrived today along with a semogue soc boar brush and a bottle of Speick aftershave. I've nipped into the bathroom umpteen times for a sniff of both already - smells like I walked into the fruit n veg shed at Jones' Farm Shop and sliced half a dozen grapefruit! (Try Spieck btw. I'm sure you'll LOVE it, very soothing and a fantastic natural citrussy fragrance).

rbrrhllngswrth I would say compared to the Futur on setting 6 it's highest..it won't be far off, but the Futur just might have the edge over the Piccolo...(my opinion) of course...all the best...Paul.

Magnificent shave Paul. I have the Fatip Grande Gold, I find it very aggressive razor and I will use your idea to try it with Wilkinson Sword blade to see how it goes. They use the same head like the Piccolo you have. Any tip for blade alignment for the Fatip? All your information you give in your videos are fabulous. Keep going my friend. I watch every single video you upload. Great stuff.

They are a good razor, do you use a very light touch when shaving?....also for alignment I just place the blade in, tighten the head (not fully).....and move the blade if needed...(then tighten)...but don't get any issues in regards to alignment often....all the best and thanks....Paul.

Yes, I try to use very light pressure but when ATG I tend to overshave the remain stubble and get some nicks or razor burn. Especially on the chin area and under that.

Try adding shaving oil to your chin and neck area just before the ATG pass, and see if that helps the nicks and burn....just massage it in, don't need much either....worth a try......Paul.

PaulHFilms Yeah I have floid pre shave oil. Will use 3 drops and lather over the oil especially when use Fatip Grande. Powerful razor. Good advice Paul, many thanks. Didnt think of it. I always tend to use pre shave oil only for the first pass which is useless because always my first passes are comfortable.

Both have the same head. My Grande arrived today. As expected the head is very sloppy and takes a great deal of time to get the blade aligned properly. Something to be mindful of.

HI PAUL, I have a Fatip Grande which I find to be an aggressive razor I can only do 2 passes.it seems the Piccolo is even more aggressive from what you are saying.my technique is ok and maybe that coupled with finding the right blade may be the issue? but at this point I can use it without carving my face up! tony

In order to get a great shave with the Fatip Piccolo, it's instrumental to use light pressure and to find blades that you know perform well for you. I'll be the first to admit that I had terrible shaves with the razor at first, because I had started with a Merkur 23C. 11 months later, my Fatip Grande (which has the same head as the Piccolo) is my favorite razor. I performed a five pass shave with the Grande tonight and my face is incredibly smooth (I'm very fussy about the quality of my shave and it bothers me to not get a BBS shave). With practice makes perfect. I did draw a little bit of blood on my mustache area, but obviously that is a very sensitive area and the skin is quite thin. Nobody's perfect.
